About me:
Monroe MMA Dragons Den 2009 Cage Record: 23-4. Merry Xmas & Happy New Year to All Club Members! A big thank you to all who helped throughout the year prepping fighters and stayin the course. Tough times don't last tough people do!

XCC 34 DUEL IN DOWNRIVER RESULTS December 5, 2009. Dan "Pac Man" and Darren Cruickshank were attending referees:

Brandon Wilhelm VS Alex Good

Unanimous decision: Brandon, American MMA

Fight of the night contender. Many submission hits by Alex who always brings it. Brandon had a good defense and hats off to em.

Ronnie Seger VS Donta Harris

TKO: Ronnie, Monroe MMA

Donta weighed at least 50 lbs over Ronnie and quit first rnd after taking several face shots. Ronnie loves the heavies.

Drew "All Day" Morais VS Joe "The Jackal" Jackson

Unanimous decision: Drew, Monroe MMA

Went to decision as usual for Drew - fight of the night! Drew had unstopable takedowns all 3 rnds. Joe never gave up and fought to the decision. Was a great fight!

Nate Cole VS Josh Sucharski

Tap out by RNC 1st rnd. Nate, Monroe MMA

Good thing he choked em.

Thanks to Matt Flynn for putting on a great family oriented show. No problems with fights breaking out, professional venue.

MICHIGAN FIGHTING CHALLENGE V RESULTS October 3, 2009 Monroe MMA Dragons Den 6-0 at this event. Brad Brown was the attending Referee. Thanks to Bronco and Dwight for a great family show. Thanks to Todd Riggs and Jerry Ray for wrapping hands.

Bout #1 - Flyweight Title Match

Darrel "DJ" Lane -vs- Allen Wisniewski

Winner: DJ Lane - (Ref Stoppage in Round 1)

Judges Notes: Dislocated arm landing wrong from takedown.(Elbow popped socket completely backwards. Looked like arm snapped in half from Judo throw. Hope Allen recovers fully).

Bout #2 - Heavyweight

Ronnie Seger -vs- Donald Brandell

Winner: Ronnie Seger - (TKO in 1:48 of Round 1)(Was called TKO but opponent was out. Opponent was rubber legged even after laying flat for 30 seconds. Ronnie gave up 30lbs for this fight).

Bout #3 - Light Heavyweight

Josh Cousino -vs- Zach Vasicek

Winner: Vasicek - (Submission in 30 seconds of Round 2)

Judges Notes: Cousino got caught in a reverse hammerlock from scarf hold. (Judges are wrong there was no hammerlock. Opponent was defeated by Scarfhold Shoulder Lock as known in SAMBO, which is similar to a keylock, but locked from the legs. A reverse hammerlock is with the arm pulled under the back of the person in guard).

Bout #4 - Light Heavyweight

Erick Allen -vs- Nate Cole

Winner: Cole - (Submission in 1:10 of Round 1)

Judges Notes: Cole mounted Allen and applied choke. (Ezekiel Choke after taken to the ground. Good thing he choked em could have been real ugly).

Bout #5 - Welterweight.

Ted Shears -vs- Alex Good

Winner: Good - (Judges Decision)

Judges Notes: Would have liked another round or two for this one. Alex won the 1st. Ted won the 2nd. 3rd round was Ted's for the first half and Alex's for the second half. Final score: 29-28. Would like to see a rematch.(Great battle for Alex).

Co-Main Event: Bout #8 - Welterweight Title Match

Drew Morais -vs- Ricardo "Boss Chollo" Vega

Winner: Morais - (T.K.O in 2:30 of Round 1)

Judges Notes: Ref stoppage from strikes on the ground. (Again opponent was flat and not moving. Looked like KO to me. Drew "All Day" Morais record is now 7-1).

June 13 2009:
Ryan "Bam Bam" 155lb wins main event at Michigan Challenge III. Thanks to Bronco McKart and Ref Dan "Pac Man" for a great show. DJ "The Natural" 140lb had a great show his first fight dominating all 3 rounds. We hoped to see Cameron fight but no one would take the challenge in the 160lb-170lb weight class for the 2nd time. Ronnie was set to take on David Hayter for the 170lb featured bout, but the opponent refused to take the fight. Ronnie wins unopposed. A big thanks to Todd Riggs from Joe's Boxing for wrapping the fighters and Dwight for putting on a great show.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu:
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on grappling and especially ground fighting with the goal of gaining a dominant position and using joint-locks and chokeholds to force an opponent to submit. The art was based on early 20th century Kodokan Judo ,[2][1] which was itself then a recently-developed system (founded in 1882), based on multiple schools (or Ryu) of Japanese Jujutsu.

Systema What is Systema:
Systema (Russian: Система, "The System") is a Russian martial art. It is designed to be highly adaptive and practical, training using drills and body striking instead of set kata.

Sambo - The combat version of Sambo takes the sport and self-defense techniques to the next level, including more vicious kicks, punches, throws and spine locks. Fighters also learn techniques that can be used to fight in small, enclosed spaces, on the floor or against more than one opponent. A number of fighters trained in Sambo have found success in the realm of MMA especially Fedor Emelianenko of Russia.
