Monroes are three boys who play reggae influnced indie that sounds like it has come straight out of the 80's. After a succession of great gigs with bands such as The View, Towers of London and The law as well as coverage in magazines such as The Fly and NME, monroes are a force to be rekoned with.

Monroes make a big sound for just a 3 piece, and are tighter than their tender years would have you believe (they're all 19). They battled through a gremlin-filled set, including string breakages on 2 guitars, and the bass amp blowing up and having to be swapped for another one. Monroes, we salute you.

'Monroes deliver a post-punk mixture of energetic guitar driven ska new wave. Taking me back to the heady days of 1978-80. The songs also seem to have an apt social commentary for 2007. 'Truth is gonna hurt' reminds me very fondly of something Terry Hall could of easily written. “Harrington Boys” is a reference to a jacket which was popular during the halcyon two tone days is just 1978 meeting 2007 in head on collision.
