::::::MANALOGUE REVIEW:::
TRAXX DILLAZ electrofry some disco vocals for a meaty MONSTER. FUTUREFLASHS keeps the flavour of the original but adds some crisp noodling. Finally, BAROQUE dices everything up into his own crunchy blend.

::::::HOUSE IS A FEELING:::
Both sides of this remix EP are really worth having. The Mossa remix above is a slightly less submerged piece of dub-techno in the Basic Channel style. It also reminds me of Aphex Twin’s “Analogue Bubblebath” quite a bit. I know very little about Macida Yayo or Monsterecs but this EP (with a great Miss Fitz mix on the flip) is one I can imagine myself playing for months.

Here's a strange EP, from a strange source. Thailand isn't a home to too many house or techno labels, but Monsterecs is one of them. Clearly it has friends in Europe and around the world though, as for this, the label's debut, sugary Japanese pop singer Macida Yayo's 'Sleepless Night' gets remixed by Miss Fitz and Mossa.
If you are feeling hurt by Miss Fitz's recent sampling of Nina Simone on 'Drifting' then her remix here may serve as an apology. Macida Yayo's voice proves a lot safer when it comes to reworking, as Fitz, one half of Mara Trax, drops an almost peaktime mix that's also almost techno. It's certainly more frenetic than some of Fitz's previous work, but doesn't for suffer it. The original, a sort of hyper piece of guitar pop, which you can find on MySpace if you care, is buried deep in Fitz's sharp edged psychedelic version. Vocals are smudged together over Oslo-esque drums and hats to create a jittery sort of journey, not the sort of tool you may expect from Fitz (no relation.)
The good news though is that Mossa's remix is even better than a very good A-side. This is an emotive piece of dub techno, with gurgling bass interrupted by Yayo's voice, sounding lost in the glorious murk of it all. It's a little like the playschool rave of Aphex Twin's 'Analogue Bubblebath' and hits that intangible point where euphoria meets melancholy, aka the dance music bullseye. It's not just a worthy effort, it's one of the best tracks of 2008 so far. :: by Ronan Fitzgerald journalist at BBC, Resident Advisor & Word and Sound.
