"Woodie Guthrie - A Life" by Joe Clyne. "Marley and Me" by John Grogan. This guy wrote a book about his golden Labrador. He wrote on the end pages after Marley passed away on the impact this 'dumb' dog had on his life:

I’m airy. Restless. Nearly impossible to pin down. I like to change my mind. Always changeable. Whatever direction i’m hurtling in, i always must get there first. When the bursts of energy fizzle out i like still and quiet time. I am quiet. I love the rush of the city as much as i love a secluded beach at sunset. I’m very aware of everything that’s out there for grabbing, and i pretty much want it all. I’m vegetarian and feel strongly about animal welfare. I grew up on a farm. I have heard many interesting stories about you and had to see you for myself! :) So here's the deal, I am oddly jealous that you are going to see Dolly Parton and I am not.
