MONTAGE is a breakbeat jazz/electronica outfit by Mitch(Akira Yamamichi) .
I've been making a new album_laptop folk issue. entitled lovery music. inspired by german group "thief". _inclding menbers of Jazzanova.
The brand-new cd of MONTAGE f/ Electroacoustic Jazz Quartet is in store now. entitled "Battles, Games and Mathematics". Including mathematical polyrhythmic afrobeat jazz with fragmented micro guitar phrases and Jimanica's smash drumming. inspired by Battles, HiM, Kieran Hebden and Steve Reid, Tony Allen, and Steve Reich's Gradual Shifting Process. And Generative rendered signal/noise tracks like Alva Noto meets Radian, Autechre, Fourtet and Supersilent.. Also texture oriented DUB with Cal Lyall's Tabletop Guitar Surgery and Peter Slade's Unique beat programming like Kit Crayton meets Keith Rowe, Pole, and Tied and Tickled Trio.

Mitch began dj and producing dub/techno with Ryoji Ikeda as CCI in 1990. after few years for CCI, Mitch started MONTAGE and producing abstract hiphop and drum'n'bass under influence of MO'WAX,Ninja Tune..released the cd "Anthlopologie" and "Mixology" from Soup-disk. joined as the dj in turntable summit "Headz by Headz"(feat. DJ Krash,DJ Cam,DJ Vadim). remixed DJ Vadim's track for Ninja Tune. after that, found new streams by jazzanova,modaji_crossover,deep house,brasillian,latina. then, produced brasillian deep house for joining Bossa tres jazz 2/v.a.(yellow productions(fr) and Francois K's "Bossa Mundo 2". started private label "universal language" and released crossover/broken beatz cd "Les Vibes Bleu" and "Blue vibes". through the digging jazz drum breaks, got laptop, and found Radian and Patrik Pulsinger's electronic jazz session, Mitch formed Electroacoustic Jazz Trio. for reseach of jazz electronica and post rock. to process and edit drum/guitar/bass sounds with lots of plugins. just like Battles, Supersilent, Four tet, Radian, Autechre, Alva noto, Jaga Jazzist, Jan Jelinek and Triosk, Savath and Savalas. this trio shifted quartet with Jimanica and MMF.
Also Mitch has a few side project. once joined Ryoji Ikeda's compilation cd (incl.Jim O'rourke, David Toop..etc) with pulse and music concrete like Luc Ferrali. few releases with sine waves and pulse from Stilluppstaypa's label. and started the minimal house unit"BERGBAHN" like Richie Hawtin, Sutech, Kit Crayton, snd,noto,Lo soul,Farben, Mike Ink..

Here is uploaded mp3 "Kosmisch ft. Dan" It was quite cool like Thirston Moore, Mat Gustafsson and Lenny Colsano. here's the excerpt of our session. I played with chords of Miles Davis's "In a silent way" . and played like Thirston Moore later. It's unbelievable that Dan has past away after two weeks of our session. Rest in peace.

the mixing balance of recording was so fine.
the bloods in my eyes was the stigma for our godsend results.
I've been post processing the recorded material naturaly, and make it fat! like Conny Plank sounds. _who is the engineer _made the kraut rock sounds.
Jason's drumming is like Jaki Liebezeit(CAN) and Mani Neumyer(Guru Guru) but sometimes symbal legato and tom shots puts jazzy feels. Cal and Hattori's sounds makes accent and tone variations.
I'm thinking to give the blocks of premastered and rendered recordings to the players.

We are planning to do a live event. the member is me/laptop,guitar, Jason/drums, Cal Lyall/guitar, Hattori/sampler. we gonna play minimal kraut rock_improvise on some pulse and loops. like jan jelinek+triosk, radian, Die Krupps, this heat.. Can, Faust, Neu!, Guru Guru, Cluster.. Kosmisch Loops is inspired by jan jelinek's kosmischer pitch.
nu project 2009-2 "FUNDAMENTALISTA!" and "THE BUSH OF GHOSTS". i've been talkin with Moro to form more dancable dubstep/math rock session as "FUNDAMENTALISTA!" and "THE BUSH OF GHOSTS". we'll be grad if we can play with, ezra, james .. improvise/SE on some pulse and loops. like kieran hebden[four tet] and steeve reed, Lindstrom, Mauritz von ozwald,Can, Neu!, Guru Guru or Don caballero, Battles, This heat.. if we record it, it will be compiled to a remix conpilation cd for Commune disc.
