Juan Carlos Montiel, Colombian musician was born in Montería- Córdoba. He studied in the music school of the college INEM of this city. At the age of twelve he began his studies with his cousin Eucaris Guerra on the hand of Angel Gomez Laguna. This people until seven years of dedication and effort, help he in the musical formation to Montiel trumpet.
At the age of seventeen he shaped part to the Gran Orquesta de Colombia, until two years he belong to this orchestra learned more about Latin music and his country music.
He took class of harmony with the master Julio Castillo, who impelled like arranger and director of orchestra as Guaimaré and Franja Orquesta, he produced songs like Mi Niña mujer, A Montería, Mi historia entre tus dedos among others. Later of this experience like arranger and director of orchestra, he traveled to Barranquilla city where shape part to orchestras as Juan Piña y su Orquesta, Los Timidos, Orquesta la Playa, músico super numerario de la Banda Symphonic to the University of Atlántico.
He located in Bogotá city in 2000 finding the acceptation like a trumpet man, until then he played with international artists as Ray de la Paz (Fania All Star), Andy Montañez, Rey Ruiz, Ismael Miranda,cheo feliciano (Fania A.S)Dany Marín, Los generales de Panamá, Wilfrido Vargas, maelo ruiz.cano estremera, Adalberto santiago fania all star, Tony vega, Pedro arroyo,Sally station.
He played in nationals orchestras as Los Caribes, Juancho Torres y Su Orquesta, Estrellas de Niche y Guayacán, Tropican Show, Yambao,director and trumpet man to the orchestra international Los Tupamaros.
He has acted in television in reality shows as El factor X Colombia, TV show hunts talents where he accompanied to singer as Farina, Ebano and Oky.
He has participated in Jazz festivals in the theatre Jorge Eliecer Gaitan in Bogotá, Salsa al parque with the group salsero La Roka, festival of salsa in France – Toros y Salsa (Dax), Euro- caribe festival in Alcalá de Henares –Spain, concerts in discotecs as Juanita club in Malasya- Kuala-Lumpur (Petalyn Jaya), shows like soloist in the club El Niño in Thailand (Tay chi).
He has recorder for orchestras like Los Tupamaros, B.I.P, Dany Marín, La Región, Buitraguito, Edmon Low From Panama, the master juancho torres y su orquesta,Carlos Valencia, Fascinación Caribe, Estrellas de Niche,orquesta la playa,Marcelo Cezan:(TELEFONO ROTO),wilfrido vargas in the temme:ESPECTACULAR,Xumapaz,orquesta la Cheverisima.among others.
In his career like a trumpet man Juan Carlos Montiel has had the fortune to placed with some instrumentalists artists like the big master Ramón Benitez, Chelito de Castro, Juventino Ojito, Hugo Fernández “copetín”, master Adolfo Castro, Juan Carlos García M, Rafael Sandoval, Roberto and Kike Cuao, Carlos Acosta, Zumaqué family, Fernando Jaramillo, Nestor agudelo (el lobo)Néstor Milanes among others.
He participated in the unplugged to the vallenato group Meter Manjarrés.
