Montigo, better known as Lior Grossman (pronounced Lee-Or), is a 25 years old trance producer from Israel.
He was born, raised, and lives nowadays in Herzliya, Israel.
The story begins earlier, as Montigo seemed to be fascinated by music since a rather young age.
At the age of 6, Montigo started learning to play keyboard, he learned until the age of 12.
Montigo didn't really like to read notes and play music, he mainly liked to improvise and play by ear. Approximately at that time (1995), Montigo was firstly introduced to the Demoscene.
He started listening to oldschool electronic music in the obsolete MOD/S3M formats, getting a lot of influence.
Montigo was mainly affected by demo-style music, drum'n'bass, and early dance tunes!
At 1996, Montigo had started composing music, this time on the home PC. First he started using Scream Tracker, soon moving to Impulse Tracker.
At that time, Montigo was exposed to commerical eurodance and clubhouse music, and later to full-on psytrance. While these generes are quite different, he liked each style in a different manner.
He made some amateur works using Impulse Tracker, mainly under the influence of psychedelic music.
Somewhere in year 2000, Montigo had abandoned the music bussiness.
First came the matriculations, and the driving lessons, then in 2001 he was recruited to the IDF.
Montigo served 4 years as a programmer for a technological unit of the Israeli Defense Force. Althought being one of the best chapters in his life, the army was apparently very counter-productive for music, in terms of both time and Muse.
Therefore, Montigo didn't really compose anything, but rather played with programs such as MadTracker, Buzz, Orion, FruityLoops etc.
It wasn't until mid 2003, when Montigo has realised that he wanted to create music commercially.
He learned Propellerhead's Reason, and even made a few demo tracks.
Once he realized he was looking for something more powerful, Montigo decided to learn eMagic's Logic Audio thoroughly.
He even made some (not very good) projects in Logic Audio.
In late 2003, Montigo won a remix competition organized by Helicon Records, Radio BU 99FM and Pop-Art. The remix was released lately Helicon Records.
Montigo worked with Logic 5 for a year or two. However, as Apple acquired eMagic, no new Logic versions were made for PC.
Thereford, in later 2005, Montigo decided to move to Cubase SX.
Ever since, Montigo is producing trance and dance music.
