Members of this band have made music with some pretty cool musicians...The Four Speeds, Felicity, Shiloh, Mike Wiggins, Linda Ronstadt, David Lovelace, Roger McGuinn, Jimmy Godwin, Pecos, Hickory Hill, Dan Fogelberg, Sneaky Pete and Cold Steel, Stevie Nicks, Blue Steel, Burrito Brothers, Greg Harris, Dan McCorison, The Eagles, Don Henley and Pinkard & Bowden. Some good influences in that mix. All of that combined with a penchant for getting a strong dose of fun out of life makes for some good music and a good time.
Greg, Richard, John and Pat are all natives of East Texas where the water seems to have musical notes floating in it. Mark is a transplanted refugee from the suburbs of southern California.
The beginning of this band was in 1999. Richard, Greg and John came together with other local boys, friends David Lovelace and Joey Hamilton, partially around a local event known as the Linden Follies sponsored by the Lions Club. The Follies had been presented in the town's American Legion Hall in years past but the building had been leased for several other uses in recent years and had aged somewhat into disrepair. The guys wanted to bring some additional live music to Linden so they banded together with some friends in town, helped to form a non-profit organization in 2002 and leased the Hall from the city. Through the combined efforts of many of their friends and fellow Lindenites, the hall was converted to a remarkable club like concert venue operated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit called Music City Texas Theater (see http://www.musiccitytexas.org). They then unfortunately suffered the loss of their friend David in 2003 when he passed away much too early from a long term illness. Pat joined the band and Joey left to pursue other opportunities. A couple people sat in ..boards until Jefferson native Mark Harrell became a regular in 2005 and played with them into 2007. But increasing demand for his talent in the Dallas area began to keep him busy performing there and a past bandmate of Richard's, Mark Vidito (sometimes referred to as Mark 2), began working with the band on a full time basis that spring after several fill in appearances.
The group visited the famed Robin Hood Studios in Tyler, TX late that summer and spent a weekend laying down tracks of their favorite songs from the shows they were presenting monthly at the theater. Robin Hood Brians assembled mixes to those tracks, a project that turned out to be a real honest glimpse of their live shows where people come to smile, enjoying good music with a lot of fun in between. It was released on May 24, 2008 at a launch party at MCTT. Since then there have been a number of great reviews, songs have been appearing on syndicated radio show playlists from as far away as Germany and requests have started coming in for out of town appearances. Give it a listen. We think you'll enjoy it. Drop the band a message if you know somewhere the band should be playing. If you can't get to Linden to see them, maybe they'll come to you sometime soon.
