Hi, I'm Kevin Moss, founder of the band Moonfish Ocean. Thanks for checking out my MySpace Music page! I hope you enjoy what you see and hear.
Moonfish Ocean is a brand new project whose birthday is January 26, 2009, and whose essence is just now starting to coalesce. The songs here were recorded in my home using a Gateway PC, a Lexicon Lambda USB interface and Cubase LE recording software. I recorded a bunch of cover songs to teach myself home recording and how to use Cubase (no easy task!) and am now starting to write and record more originals. Check back again soon and you'll be able to hear them.
As far as gigging, I play mainly acoustic covers and a few originals, with a large and diverse reperatoire representing many different artists and styles.
I love to play the music I grew up with and came of age with: the classic, acoustic and progressive rock of the 60's, 70's, and...ok, let's not talk about the 80's. The 90's were pretty cool, too -- with some new, exciting sounds emerging from artists heavily influenced by those classic 60's and 70's.: among them U2, Incubus, Radiohead and many others.
My principal influences are Pink Floyd, The Who, The Beatles, George Harrison, The Doors, Yes, Jethro Tull, Genesis (up until the point where they became sickeningly top 40), ELP, King Crimson, Steely Dan, Paul Simon, James Taylor, Eric Clapton, Cat Stevens. CSN (and sometimes Y) and...well, you get the idea.
I am available for small venues -- coffee houses, pubs, cocktail lounges, receptions, banquets, and private parties. I often perform solo, but its possible to have other musicians join me. My hope is that Moonfish Ocean will continue to grow in personnell over the next several months, as we define and refine our sond. Shows can be tailored to suit a variety of audiences typical of such establishments. For example, for a coffee house I might lean more towards the mellower artists -- Taylor, Simon, Eagles, Beatles, etc. -- while for a pub crowd I would do some of the edgier stuff: Floyd, Who, Doors, Tull and the like. You tell me what you and your audiences might like, and I'll put a show together.
