Metaphysics, children (young and old), horses, writing things that people love to read and helps them to grow, slow dancing with someone special, yoga, weights, beautiful skies, a glass of wine with a best friend, houses - all kinds of houses, learning to play the saxophone, spa getaways, challenges that aren't too big or too small, decorating & landscaping, learning something new every day.... good times with friends, and times spent with my grown children, nieces, aunt, uncles, and cousins.
Music
Such a variety and always interested in hearing new sounds. My favorite song of all time is "Deacon Blues" by Steely Dan. Others... always changing, as I am. But there is always the music only I can hear that sings in my soul....
Movies
Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood, Steel Magnolias, A Beautiful Mind, Dances With Wolves, The Notebook **sigh**, What About Bob?, Armageddon, and so many more!
Television
Dexter, Boston Legal, House.... I don't watch much TV anymore.
Books
....
Favorite authors are Greg Barrett, Daniel Amen, MD., Nancy Taylor Rosenberg (Mitigating Circumstances), John Grisham, Richard North Patterson, Marianne Williamson, Wayne Dyer.... Novels about courageous characters, and legal thrillers mostly. The Horse Whisperer is my all time favorite (but the movies was terrible)! Used to read a lot of self-help, but got self-helped to death and am over it.
Heroes
I don't really believe in heroes. I think we are all in charge of being significant in our own way, and encouraging each other to be too.
BUT... Father Joe Maier, and Greg Barrett, the author who earned his trust, are pretty darn close to being heroes, if I believed in them. And my friend Razia, who has the biggest heart I've ever had the privilege to know. And damn! My kids.... Oh well, I guess I do believe in heroes after all.... **sigh**

About me: Welcome to my world! I would describe myself as, among other things, genuinely kind-hearted... curious... sensible... incredibly intuitive... imaginative... passionate... sensuous... observant... courageous... solution oriented… a humanitarian... and most prominently, able to recognize those same qualities quite clearly in others.
Chandra is a pen name that I use here because it means "gradual enlightenment" which is what I like to write about. I do love to write, so as I am working on new writing projects, I will also be writing here to share, and hopefully to inspire growth and enlightenment by correlating real life craziness that causes stress, with real life solutions that provide harmony. I also love to learn new things and expand my awareness, so I look forward to reading your writing and getting to know you.
I am amazed at the whole MySpace phenomenon! The birds' eye view of communities and interactions with one another is a pseudo-socialogist's dream come true! And yes, I do have to admit that I am fascinated with these dynamics, and very curious about people, our differences, and our similarities. Please don't confuse my curiosity with judgment. I actually am very non-judgmental, and while I may not agree with another's perspective, I will seldom judge another for their beliefs.... I will, however, express my own beliefs and opinions since I see every moment as another opportunity to expand our understanding of life and each other......
What do I believe? I believe in the perfection of the universe and that we all have the power to choose our own realities. I believe that children need good parents, that parents need each other, that everyone needs friends, that siblings are different on purpose, that smart people can become stupid and that everyone can learn something, that life can be cruel if we believe in cruelty, that life can be kind if we practice kindness, that mean people suck but deserve to be loved, educated, and given a chance to heal if we expect them to change, that serial victims are mean people too, that the devil doesn't need anymore advocates, but abused and neglected children do, that words & actions have limitations and intimacy is most often found in soft silences, that God doesn't make bad children.... and that... Miracles are everywhere just waiting to be discovered.
Now that my children are grown, and doing well on their own, it's a whole new world to explore... and a new adventure! My first priority is being a significant part of the movement to heal the dysfunction that manifests in domestic violence and war mentality. Spreading the word that help is available, and providing effective resources is a passion for me.
Who I'd like to meet: Anyone who is genuinely kind-hearted, who can inspire me, and whom I can inspire.
I love people who are down to earth with lots of personality and some quirkiness! Some of my favorite qualities in people are honest and direct communication, open mindedness to new ideas, humility in sharing their ideas and perspectives, a bit of eccentricity, solution oriented, creative, introspective, mindful, soul-searching, growth oriented, and spiritually centered.
If you are mean, overly judgmental, a bully, manipulative, or a chronic victimized whiner... please move on. I'm not interested.
Be the change you want to see in the world rather than complaining about it! And encourage others to do the same.
I MISS YOU SO MUCH* I HOPE THINGS ARE GETTING BETTER AND YOUR STARTING TO MAYBE ENJOY THE HOLIDAYS?? ARE YOU? I HOPE TO BE BACK SOON...THANK YOU FOR YOUR LOYAL FRIENDSIP*
Your soul belongs to the universe. Your mind is an outlet through which the Creative Intelligence of the universe seeks fulfillment...This Thing Called You. ~Ernest Holmes~
Hope your week develops as you wish it to! Observed a beautiful
sunrise this morning through the power lines across from my home and
just HAD to capture it and share it!
Love is like a butterfly in so many, many ways. It brings a bit of sunshine even on gloomy days. It makes our souls feel lighter just to know it's there And gives our spirits wings, as if floating in the air. It carries us to places that we never knew before And comes in many sizes, shapes and hues galore.
Once we've seen it, we wish to hold onto it so tight But like a frail butterfly, we must allow it free flight, For if we should try to cage it up and hold it in a pen, We'll surely crush its wings, and it'll never fly again. To keep that love glowing in our hearts each day, We must remember always to give some of it away.
Every little bit we give to someone else to share Comes back tenfold, and we've so much to spare. Put your love on gossamer wings, and give it flight; It will return to you, and bring you much delight.
