I believe strongly in letting others do as they would wish,so long as they don't harm others. *shrug* I'm Wiccan, so no big surprise there. But what really chaps my ass is people who would deny the very people who fight for them something very simple. In this video, the lady in red with her hand on the headstone is the author Selena Fox. Those with pagan leanings will recognize her and many others in this video about honoring a woman who had been murdered, I think, by her brother. A shame to have her life end in it's 40s. A long-due blessing that she, among others, received a pentacle on her headstone, honoring her spirituality as a pagan Priestess. Please take the time to watch.
Thanks to the FireflyAcademy for the video of the religious freedom rally.

I Wonder if She Sleeps
Her head is full of ghosts that never sleep.
Her heart is full of eyes that never weep.
Her hands have held the hands of tiny angels,
And her soul has seen more miles than her feet.
She finds her way to work and then back home again.
she stops and grabs herself a bite to eat.
and as she turns the key into the lock,
she wonders if the pain will ever stop.
Is it really them that drag her down?
Or is it really all her own doing?
No, she thinks, that's crazy, why'd she do that to herself?
She's just gotta keep herself moving.
Her head is full of ghosts that never sleep.
Her heart is full of eyes that never weep.
Her hands have held the hands of tiny angels
And her soul has seen more miles than her feet.
I'd like to ask her if she really loves herself.
Or if she even believes there is a hell
or does she think it's really here on Earth
and whether Heaven is only just the quick reprieve.
I wonder if she ever goes to sleep.
I wish that one true love was hers to keep.
If I could've taken all her pain away
I'd have done it sooner than today.
Her head is full of ghosts that never sleep.
Her heart is full of eyes that never weep.
Her hands have held the hands of tiny angels
And her soul has seen more miles than her feet.
Pirates of the Carribean, The Secretary, Harry Potter, Gothika, Underworld, Love, Actually, A Love Song for Bobby Long. The Sum of Us, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, almost any GLBT flick. I also like action movies, mysteries and romantic comedies. I also really like to see indie films. They have that 'edgy' feel.
Television
H3X, The L Word, Most Haunted, NCIS, the CSI's, The Unit, Crossing Jordan, the Dog Whisperer, and Animal Cops. Occasionally, Dog, The Bounty Hunter and Ancient Mysteries Revealed.
Anything involving pets/animals, the supernatural, investigative shows, traveling abroad or shows about major transformations either in animals, people, places, things, etc.
Books
Where the Wild Things Are and the Missing Piece are two big favorites. Also, I like romances, supernatural stuff, drama, self-help books (LOL), erotica, and anything having to do with NEW AGE/Metaphysics themes. Drag King Dreams by Leslie Fienberg. I also REALLY like the Best Lesbian Erotica books. *pant pant* Those stories are HOT - even the weird ones! LOL Definitely the 2007 edition is worth checking, even if it's not as edgy as previous years.
Heroes
People who are brave enough to admit their faults and still manage to retain their self-worth. People who aren't afraid of who they are. People who want to better not only themselves, but the environment around them. Those who are open-minded. You don't have to be beautiful, rich, smart or thin.... so long as you're kind.
Fave Authors: Kim Harrison, Katherine V. Forrest, Laurel K. Hamilton, Jude Devereaux, Theresa Madeiros, Fairy Butch, Leslie Feinbrg, Fannie Flagg, Pat Califia (all hail MACHO SLUTS!) and Tristen Taormino.
Other Heroes: the X-Men, Kermit the Frog, and Max from Where the Wild Things Are

I'm somewhere between Sarah MacLachlan, Jewel and Joan Osbourne in the way I sound. I sang for two bands when I lived in Lafayette, LA - Spank Daddy and Overtime.
I'm currently a semi-finalist and a finalist in 2 contests for amatuers.I will have those photos published later this year. One is for a photo of a tiger lilly, and the other is our dog Harley. :)

I'm your typical tom-girl lesbian, other than the fact that I am far from typical. I take care of things myself most of the time, but I know when to call for backup. Sometimes you gotta call in 'tha girls' to help you take care of a little business. There's NOTHING else in the world like knowing that you can trust your friends with your life. Female solidarity is NOT bullshit.
I love to sing - especially blues, female rock & pop, and a little bit of country. I even like opera and oldies(real oldies, not the stuff they say is the oldies now). When I lived in Lafayette, LA and I sang for a couple of blues bands. It was the most work I've ever done for so little money and so much love. LMAO
I love old Victorian houses and animals and babies. I like ghost stories and love stories and stories about vampires, etc. I am the kind of girl who would be your neighbor, speaking to you when I pass by as you're doing yardwork, and you'd never suspect the things that lurk behind my friendly demeanor and little kid smile. We all have a dark side. I'm very in touch with mine.
In my next life I want to be either a rodeo star or a race car driver. In this life I'd like to be a healer, a spiritual teacher and guide, and a nurturer. I can read people exceptionally well. Most people can read ME just as well, because I'm not prone to being dishonest, conniving or manipulative.
I am an incredibly intuitive and empathetic person. People usually talk to me a lot, tell me their secrets and just generally vent b/c they know I will listen to them and help if I can. I never repeat a secret, unless NOT to do so would endanger someone or something. I try not to judge others, as it is not my place to do so.
I have a fairly strong ego. I can't help it- I'm an Aries. It never even OCCURS to me that someone else may not understand that I may think I'm being forthright, when all they can see is me being rude. It's never deliberate, so I need people in my life that know how to say, "Nicole... stop and rethink what you just did (or said)." If someone broke my heart, I'd smile to their face and tell them I understand. Then later, when the lights are out and the world is dark, that is when I let loose my grief. And by the time the morning comes around again, all traces of my tears are gone. If you happen to see them, consider yourself lucky. I do not let my guard down for just anyone. If you're one of the handful of people I have truly let in, then you know that to betray that loyalty and trust is to know a life without me in it.
I'm the oldest of 3 in my family. I have that typical oldest-kid syndrome. I offer my advice, solicited or not. I take charge of things, sometimes stepping on the toes of others without meaning to. I say what I want or don't want, when I can comprehend it myself well enough. And if I happen to hurt your feelings, sweetie, well then you better tell me right out. I don't do "hints" when I am focusing on something else. And the first thing you'll hear me say is that I am very sorry. I am very much wrapped up in my world, so when other people need me, they have to let me know. Once you do, I'm right there with whatever I can offer. Sometimes, people call me a bitch.. Well, I'm okay with that. *smirk*
Pet Peeves: Old toothpaste left to harden around the top of the tube. People who talk about what they're going to do, but never actually DO ANYTHING. Being taken advantage of. Bullies. Being asked what I want for dinner b/c I rarely know the answer. Bigots.
Who I'd like to meet: Celebrities: Bonnie Raitt, Melissa Etheridge, Ellen Degeneres, Sarah MacLachlan, Joan Osbourne, Jewel, members of Antigone Rising, Jenna Jameson, Maya Angelou, Frankie Perez, Gina Gershon, John Mayer, Grayson Capps and Jonny Lang.
Non-celebrities:If you have a good heart, a good sense of humor, an OPEN MIND, and a *modicum* of intelligence, then I mean YOU. I am also very compelled towards confident people. Especially women who aren't afraid to be themselves. Confidence is very SEXY.
