  • Bio

THE MOONLIGHTERS hearken back to the days when bands didn't need a drummer to rock. Combining the hippest sounds and feels of the 1920's with modern songwriting sensibilities, they have created a completely unique style of their own. They can swing hard and then dissolve into a tender romantic ballad or dark, mournful dirge (sometimes all in the same song!). Two harmonizing female vocals, steel guitar, ukulele, guitar & bass. .. THE MOONLIGHTERS have been a part of the New York City jazz and pop music scenes since they formed in 1998. Based around a core of harmonized vocal duets backed by warm acoustic instruments including steel guitar, ukulele, guitar, and bass, they explore traditional and classic tunes and write their own originals as well. .. They have released four cds on their ONLIEST RECORDS label, "Dreamland" in 2000, "Hello Heartstring" in 2002, and "Live in Baden-Baden" in 2004, and the fourth "Surrender" in April 2006. Their 5th full length cd "Enchanted" will be released by WorldSound Records on July 14, 2009. ..

Live at TONY: The Moonlighters croon sweet, old-timey swing .. The Moonlighters are one of the city’s hardest-working bands: Rarely a week goes by without a club gig by the ever-charming old-time-swing outfit. Singer–ukulele player Bliss Blood (currently of Delta Dreambox and formerly of Pain Teens), Cindy Ball, Raphael McGregor and Rus Wimbish. were kind enough to stop by TONY a few days back and perform a warm-up tune. .. ..watch web video: Moonlighters LIVE AT TIME OUT NEW YORK..
