Moonlyn got kicked out of her church choir and this changed her young mind forever... she
decided to lead a new life and became more carefree and uninhibited with her ways...
this also inspired her to write music as far away from hymns as possible.
Moonlyn offers up an alternative rock sound with a twist of electronica and a touch of
erotica. She works alone and creates energetic original material on her computer that is
refreshingly different from today's trends.
Moonlyn's debut album "Butterfly Girl" was officially released in 2004 and
can be considered a success. While Moonlyn's efforts lacked the publicity and marketing that
a large record label could provide, her popularity spread regardless. Moonlyn has had
radio play in various college & mainstream stations in Canada (Ontario, Quebec & New
Brunswick), the U.K., the U.S., the Philippines and Amsterdam. Moonlyn’s album “Butterfly
Girl” was the editors pick for 2 months in 2004 when it was first added to the All Music
Guide Website.
The song “Butterfly Girl” reigned in the no.1 position in the Alternative Main and General
Sub-Charts on the worldwide popular site Sound Click, for over 8 consecutive weeks - from
March to May 2005. Moonlyn was also rated the best Independent Alternative artist in
Toronto and stayed within the top 10 all time Independent artists in the world on Sound
Click for over 8 weeks, peeking at the 5th position- from March to June 2005. Moonlyn was
also nominated for Best Pop/Rock Artist at the First Annual Toronto Indie Music Awards in
October 2005
