Drinking, reading, drinking, writing, pacifism and drinking, and music, drinking and smoking. And I like pubs too. Guinness, whisky, whiskey, red wine, rum, tequila, Tom Coles, writing, smiling, drinking and the television. And sleeping is good, and not sleeping and talking. And walking's good, but not too far. Drawing birds with captions. Look North. I like to drink sometimes, and smoke, and the full moon is pleasant. The nature of time. Procrastination a specialty. Wistful balladeering. Wistfullness generally. Drinking wistfully, and smoking and writing, and sometimes talking, though that can become overwhelming. Myspace? Not so much. Meditation, in theory at least. Sunflowers.

Books
Right. This'll be a list of novels, and ten of them at that. It isn't a Top Ten or any such notion. It's just ten books. Do please take them as recommendations:
The Third Policeman - Flann O'Brien Madame Bovary - Gustave Flaubert Tristessa - Jack Kerouac The Sheltering Sky - Paul Bowles Naked Lunch - William Burroughs The Plague - Albert Camus Three Men In a Boat - Jerome K. Jerome Narziss and Goldmund - Hermann Hesse Beautiful Losers - Leonard Cohen The Hard Life - Flann O'Brien Alice (Adventures/Looking Glass) - Lewis Caroll
Beyond novels, well, we'll see. I could read the Mabinogion forever, and perhaps should, and the King James Bible, naturally. Do I go into poets and the like here? Well, maybe. Pooka Delaval is always a cracking read too.
Heroes
Absolutely Sweet Aslan,
Liam Clancy, Christy Moore,
William Blake, Allen Ginsberg, Tony Benn, Joan Baez, Albert Camus, Brendan Behan, Mary Wollstonecraft, Basil Bunting, Arthur Rimbaud,
Gustave Flaubert,
Obviously Bob Dylan

About me: Instead, songs. I don't ever let them start automatically, as I personally find it piss annoying when they do that, as I'm generally listening to something else at the time, but they're always crackin' tunes. That there was a word to the wise. These are songs recently featured on my profile here. That says more than a pithy little bio ever could in all its potential splendour:
Howard Fishman - The Best Is Yet To Come St. Cuthbert's Burials - Tropical Fruit Merle Haggard - Misery and Gin The Crystals - Then He Kissed Me Bob Dylan and The Band - Yea! Heavy and a Bottle of Bread Shane MacGowan and the Popes - Song With No Name Pentangle - The Cuckoo Serge and Charlotte Gainsbourg - Lemon Incest Ben Weaver - 40 Watt Bulb Richie Havens - San Francisco Bay The Shangri-Las - Leader of the Pack Pete Seeger - Little Boxes Allen Ginsberg - Sunflower Sutra Jelly Roll Morton - Billy Goat Stomp Joan As Police Woman - The Ride PJ Harvey - Sheela-Na-Gig Allen Ginsberg - Pigs of Western Civilisation, Eat More Grease Billy Bragg - A New England The Fugs - Slum Goddess Eric Bogle - If Wishes Were Fishes Ivor Cutler - A Wooden Tree Leadbelly - Take a Whiff On Me Melanie - Leftover Wine Captain Beefheart - Ashtray Heart Love - Number 14
Sticking videos here seems to be the done thing, so I'll give it a whirl. Here's toy trains with a Garcia-Grisman soundtrack: ..
you should use myspace more as facebook confuses me and im not too fond of it all. it has indeed benn a long time since I have actually seen or spoken to you properly we should do something about that sometime soon. :)
soooo whats new in the land of jack? I havnt really used myspace much lately so have fallen out of touch with just about everything and everyone, work and uni does horrible things to people. happy 2008 btw =) haha xx
you have a twin jack im sure, two days ago i saw what i thought to be you in the eldon square area, almost said hi then realised my mistake. been up to anything significantly exciting lately? :)
Becasue i appear to be some kind of prodical son impersonator i have squandered my money already, mostly on jeaigermeister, i think. But i did have to pay my rent aswell so its not entirely appauling. i should be able to gather some money for squandering for maybe next thursday? I have to endure Exam on wednesday and therefore am not allowed to get drunk. hmmpf. *excess moon rays* XxX
Me Again, Just thinking I insist that we cover a White Stripes song- any.
I'm not sure whether that's an SCB or Sterven Jonger job. That's probably up to you and Paul.
Thoughts?
i got evacuated. there was an explosion and for a full 24 hours i was an evacuee. i realise by now that i might be milking the evacuee sympathy thing a bit too much. but really, it WAS the first time i was evacuated in my life and i really dont think too much of a big deal can ever be made of that. i have booked train tickets to return for the Green Festival. Everything is Great.
You are coming tomorrow/Friday, are you? Be nice to see a friendly face in this world where everything has gone to the mountains.
Put the kettle on. (with beer inside)
Oh HOW EXCITING: the 2 paradises and everything: red-hot beer would sear my tastebuds.
I have an exam on Friday so I dont really want no parties on Thursday, now do I? Although, you are welcome to hold one without me so long as I'm there in name. Boil some beer X
You did indeed mention a boatman. I apologise for not replying, i was "getting an early night" in preparation for Stupid Exams (that is, exams that are stupid, not to be confused with exams that test stupidity unfortuantely)(it is unfortunate because one would not need to lean anything in order to ensure validity and reliability of the test and surely the results would be interesting?)and also my stupid phone is infact a bugger to text with. hopefully i shall develop schemas for that kind of thing soon enough.
is there any news of the green festival??
*ornamental land mines and singing grasshoppers*
Due to the wonderful but inconvenient fact that i'm a drunkard, i appear to have lost my phone. I think someone put it in box that i eventually tired of and discarded. If one could text me with ons number i'll be able to store your number so i can tell you when something magical happens. XxX
i can only play 1 impressive song on the peano. unfortunately it is significantly better when i'm not drunk. We will therefore, have to drink ourselves sober. I look forward to it.
Like you say there is much of ourselves we ought to see in even that small snip of Merle Haggard's life.
And I imagine, as we have restored our vigour recently, we're only a small hop away from the sunny boulevarde of lane. The wistful strains of the many limbed beast- 'post-blues'.
It's a field me and yourself have been advocates of for longer than we might realise. It is a subtle beast: canny like an unturned card but most of all a little ripe.
I feel we ought to discuss this place, this so-called 'post-blues' and see how right it is.
Saturday is indeed the thing. This is what the dictionary has to say about it:
[Curd Fair] Saturday:
A public holiday in May in Kilmarnock in Ayrshire, on which the population formerly resorted to neighbouring farms to eat curds and cream.
It shall be like that for us, only with added Sophie in the early hours.
