Moonsocket is Chris Thompson who played guitar in the now disbanded Eric's Trip. Moonsocket started around 1992. It was just him, his 4-track and his acoustic guitar along with some background noises. He released a cassette on Julie Doiron's label, Sappy Records. He also had some 7" ep's and cds released on various other labels. When Eric's Trip broke up in 1996 Moonsocket evolved from a solo side project into a full band with the addition of Ron Bates of Orange Glass and Chris Flanagan. But, for Moonsocket's first 'full band' release, The Best Thing, Chris still played all the instruments, and Rick from Eric's Trip played drums on a few tracks. Moonsocket's second full band recording in '97 entitled Take the Mountain was Chris and Ron. Unfortunately, since that album their has been no new material released.
