Moons of Pluto are the power-trio rock band covering all of your favorite classic and modern rock tunes. The Moons’ philosophy is to play a little bit of everything for everybody. Their repertoire spans the music of the 50’s and 60’s (Elvis, The Beatles, Rolling Stones), 70’s (Allman Brothers, The Who, Zeppelin, Skynard), 80’s (Poison, Motley Crue, The Police), 90’s (Nirvana, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam), and Today (Foo Fighters, The Killers, Weezer). Their list goes on and on. Featuring Landon McDonald on Guitar, Daniel Pierson on the Bass and Tim Jedlicka on Drums, this band is no “juke-box” cover band. The Moons give you the excitement and spontaneity a live band should always have. It’s what we like to call “The Live Music Experience”. Based out of Northern New Jersey, Moons of Pluto have rocked many of the area’s bars, clubs, and restaurants, and are always looking for more. The three band members have a great chemistry together and an extensive musical history.
Lan McDonald is a multi-talented musician, playing guitar, saxophone, percussion, drums and bass. Beginning with the saxophone at an early age of 10, his influences include Jazz, Funk, Rock and even Classical music. He played in his first band, Atomic Radiation, at the age of 13 and after a variety of original bands, (including the 8-piece funk band, Legroom, playing alto saxophone, and the rock group, RF Somthin on guitar), is focused on the guitar, performing a wide range of cover songs with Moons of Pluto. Playing many genres from the 1950's to today, he aims to "be able to do a little bit of everything". His spare time is spent with his family and teaching guitar to his students in the Central New Jersey area.
Dan Pierson picked up the bass at age 19 and discovered that it came very naturally to him. With no formal training, but soaking up influences from anywhere he could find them, he began performing music as bass player for the hardcore original band "Stinkfist." While in college he grew and developed his talent in the Sublime tribute band, Senate Allstars. By 2004 Dan had discovered the blues and polished his bass skills in the Blues band, Homemade Sin, as well as the Rock cover band Sunrize. Now, in his latest project, Moons of Pluto, Dan also supplies main vocals and performs a very diverse and wide range of music and styles. Dan is a true entertainer, and his passion for performing live music comes alive at every show.
Tim Jedlicka has been playing drums and percussion since the 4th grade. Having earned his Bachelor’s degree in Percussion Performance from the SUNY Purchase College Conservatory of Music in May of 2000, he has much experience in many types of music including, but not limited to Orchestral, Classical, Jazz, Blues, Funk, and of course Rock’n’Roll. Tim has backed many bands throughout his career. Most notably Ultrawhite, who rocked the Stone Pony, CBGB’s, and other Jersey and NY hot spots back in ‘00 and ‘01. Also, the Mattress Cowboys, who tore across L.A. and California during the summer of ‘04. More recently Tim played in the rhythm section of a popular local blues band, HomeMadeSin along with Dan in the North Jersey area. Now he’s holding it down in Moons of Pluto and couldn’t be happier to bring his years of experience and passion for music to the stage with this great band.
Lan & Dan met and jammed together at a BBQ in August ‘05. There was almost instantaneous chemistry created through the music that evening. The band officially formed in September of 2005. Landon had asked a drummer from a previous band to hold down the beats for the duo. Later, the name "Moons of Pluto" was set for take off. By the fall of 2005, they began playing at local clubs and bars within the Northern New Jersey area. Eventually, the position for drummer opened up, and Dan wanted nothing more than his talented drummer from a recent blues band, Tim, to step in for the job. This would be the completion of Moons of Pluto. The current line up of Moons of Pluto takes the band to new heights. With a tight sound, a wide array of influences, and a deep pool of talent, this band is ready to Rock! Landon, Dan, and Tim have kept people up and dancing all night and wanting more at all the Moons’ shows. If you’re looking for a great night out, with great music from a great band, you’re looking for Moons of Pluto – “The Live Music Experience.”
