Moore By Four
Since its inception in May 1986 in Minneapolis, MOORE BY FOUR has been a fixture on the Twin Cities music scene.
Their holiday shows are an annual favorite, drawing over 80,000 fans in the past 16 years. MOORE BY FOUR has shared concert billing with Harry Connick, Jr. and the late Joe Williams, Carmen MacRae, Sarah Vaughan and Dizzy Gillespie. They've sung for the US Olympic Committee, the Super Bowl, the Minnesota Twins, Vikings and Timberwolves, as well as President and Mrs. Clinton, Mikhail and Raisa Gorbachev, Vaclav Havel and the King and Queen of Sweden. They've performed at countless special events, benefits, corporate functions, colleges and universities, concert halls and festivals in the U.S., Europe and Japan.
The harmonies put forth by the four vocalists Yolande Bruce, Ginger Commodore, Connie Evingson and Dennis Spears immediately invoke thoughts of Manhattan Transfer, i.e., precise vocal control and polish, pulsating rhythms and innovative arrangements. But the individuals' grounding in gospel, jazz, pop and theatre provides a far broader range to the group's musical offerings. Originally specializing in music from the swing era, Director Sanford Moore continues to expand the group’s repertoire to include contemporary jazz selections, original compositions and new arrangements of the great standards from Broadway, Hollywood and the Cotton Club period - all performed in what has become known as the 'signature style' of MOORE BY FOUR.
What a wonderful sound! Thanks for the space connection and please accept my gift of song "Our Day Will Come" as a free download. I'd love to hear what you think of it. With great appreciation, Pippi Ardennia
