I am interested in everything. When one is interested in everything, there is no time to be bored with life. Even a raindrop can be engrossing--did you know the entire world is reflected in a raindrop???? And that in a raindrop, the world is entirely upside down? (grin)
I enjoy gardening, herbs (how to grow & use 'em), canoeing, badmitton, volleyball, cooking, walking, typing, photography, entertaining, sewing, drawing, painting--and especially LAUGHING. I LOVE to laugh.
I collect antique jewelry, miniature figurines and the like, musical instruments of all kinds, unusual rocks (heart shaped ones are best), fanciful old books, pretty beads, fairytale books, collectible old perfume bottles, black cats, ancient crockery, cards and postcards.
I like filmy, romantic flowing skirts, blouses and dresses. I love most things Bohemian, including incense, vintage purses, odd furniture and shoes.
I play the guitar, mostly folk, and some rock n' roll. I love the sound of the cello. That instrument is my first love. It has the sound of tenderness and tears.
I am endlessly enchanted by the sky--with all it's purples, blues, fluffy whites, colors of rainbow, sunrise and sunsets.
I am fascinated by people in general. I enjoy older folks--the stories they tell are spell-binding. They know how to do so many things which have been forgotten in today's world. Like making soap! Eeeeek! What a process.
Young people are especially precious to me. I wonder what it would be like to be a young person today. I believe it is a LOT harder now, than when I was their age. There are so many of them who inspire and challenge me. I am honored and deeply grateful for their friendship and trust.
These are only a few of all the things which catch and hold my interest. (grin) Life is SO much fun!
My younger middle brother, a photo journalist for a daily newspaper in Oregon, has put out the following article on YouTube. I really enjoyed hearing from the art students he interviewed. Their comments, and artwork were totally inspiring.
Music
All styles! Here's a few: I like Blondes In Disguise, Jars of Clay, Joanna Newsome, Linkin' Park, Journey, Gran Bell Fisher, most classical music including Beethoven, Bach and Mozart.
I enjoy listening to Sweet & Sassy, Crystal Crescent Staircase, The Eagles, Jim Croce, Foreigner, Avril L'avigne, Cat Stevens, Eric Clapton, Switchfoot, Led Zeppelin, early Bob Dylan, Loggins & Messina; Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and Keith Green.
Add in Little Texas, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Tim McGraw, America, Alan Jackson, Bread, Love Song, Heart, Smashmouth, Queen, Kelly Clarkson, Cory Siebe, Burlap to Cashmere, Gary Wright, America, and George Strait.
I love The Doors, Evanescence, Newsboys, Wierd Al, Train, Moody Blues, Relient K, Third Day, and especially Kathy Mattea's Christmas CD.
I LOVE "story songs" (doesn't matter in what style). Story songs are my totally favorite kind of music--especially if the storyline is clever and makes you laugh, or cry, or say, "AAaaaw."
When I first viewed the video below--I thought it was going to be cheesy. But by the end I was deeply touched, tears rolling down my cheeks. I can identify with so many aspects of this video. If you watch it, please see it through to the end. The truth is everyone has struggles, and everyone feels alone at times. There IS Someone watching who cares. He Who loves us will see us through it all.
..
Narnia, Mirror Mask, While you Were Sleeping, The Mummy, IQ, Last of the Dog Men, Signs, The Village, Sahara, Batman Begins, National Treasure, Star Trek (all of 'em), Star Wars (all of 'em), The Last Crusade, Princess Bride--that's the newish stuff. I also LOVE old movies--like the Robe, Rear Window, with Jimmy Stewart, The Rope, and To Catch a Thief with Cary Grant, among many others.
Television
I dislike reality shows. I really do. Why sit and watch the TV, when one can be actually living in reality? (grin) Ok...so my favorite shows on television. I enjoy Star Trek Voyager, Monk, Bugs Bunny, Jonny Quest, Murder She Wrote, Smallville and Judge Judy.
Books
The Bible, Wild At Heart, Captivating, Mara Daughter of the Nile, books on lost civilizations and cultures; mysteries of the universe. Any book by Eva Gibson, Mary Stewart, Victoria Holt and Phyllis Whitney (I love mysteries!). I enjoy Zane Grey, Tozer, Beth Moore, Harold Bell Wright and Edgar Rice Burroughs. It is a fact that I love most old books written around the turn of the century.
Heroes
Jesus, my dear Dad who was a prisoner of War in Nazi Germany in WW2, who taught me about courage and unconditional love; my talented and beloved Mumsie, who taught me about the power of prayer, true friendship and how to write; my husband Alan, who makes me laugh; and all of my children--this includes my "adopted" kids--you know who you are!; my treasured friends, especially Lynn, Laura, TJ, Peggy, Juli, Julie and Bev, and my wonderful guybrotherfriends, Prentice, Roy, and Dave.
I have to add in here--that people who fight against cancer--often against insurmountable odds, are some of the bravest, heroic, and most lovely people I know. One of these amazing heros is my younger brother Dow, who fought against cancer for 10 years, and lost his battle January, 2002.
This is Sterling Dow, who's decided to grace myspace with his happy tiger gringrowl! He's awfully cute--and enjoys everyone who pays attention to him! (grin)
I am facing some tremendous changes in my life. Suffice it to say, I have always had a hard time with change.
Some things about me which are not subject to change are: I love it when it snows. There is something so graceful and other-worldly about floating snowflakes. The snow transforms and beautifies the ugliest things with it's white draping robes. I also enjoy a silver thaw now and then--Tasting ice leaves and catching snowflakes on my tongue are delightful pastimes when the weather gets cold.
I believe in Faeries (they're God's littlest angels). I am convinced they live in my garden. (grin) If I were a faery I would love to live there, too.
I like Christmas, cats, small dogs, goldfish, and children of all sizes and ages.
Mud puddle stomping is one of my favorite things to do. (Hahaha...with anyone who is brave enough to join me!) I also relish driving through deep mud puddles--the best one I ever saw spashed up on both sides to clap together over the top of my car...just breathtaking!
I delight in the sound of wind, falling rain, and crickets. I look forward to traffic jams because then I get to blow bubbles out the window--most people smile. My favorite kind of bubbles are "catch-a-bubble" (for obvious reasons--if you've ever [as I have] obsessed over wanting to catch bubbles in your fingers...) I adore candy bars, but do not eat them.
I like to walk to the park and look for agates and petrified wood along the banks of the river in spring and summer when the waters are low. I collect all sizes of naturally shaped heart rocks. Someday I'm going to make a sidewalk out of 'em.
One of my favorite activities is drawing. Just give me an empty piece of paper, a pencil and my imagination, and one never knows what will appear. I always carry a sketchpad and pencils with me just in case. Some of my artwork can be seen at www.Niquette.net.
I love photography. My camera is nearly always by my side. One never knows what amazing thing one might be able to capture on film.
THE PROMISE
(A Paraphrase, given to me, by my sweet Mumsie over 24 years ago)
"And I will make with "Mop" a covenant of peace, and will cause the evil horrors to cease from her life. She shall dwell safely in the midst of trouble. She shall learn to lean on Me.
"She shall sleep peacefully, encircled in My arms, even when seemingly insurmountable circumstances tower over her.
"And I will make "Mop" and the people surrounding her into blessings. I will cause the shower to refresh her when she's weary, they will come in her appointed season; and there will be showers of blessings."
~Ezekiel 34:25, 26
"Statistically, the probability that any of us being here is so small, that you'd think the mere fact of existing would keep us all in a contented dazzlement of surprise." ~Lewis Thomas, The Lives Of A Cell
"Motherhood is not for the fainthearted. Used frogs, skinned knees and the insults of teenage girls are not meant for the wimpy." ~ Daneille Steel, Romance Novelist & Mother of Eight
"There is no pit so deep, that He is not deeper still." ~ Corry Ten Boom (WW2 Nazi Concentration Camp Survivor)
"There is no strength, where there is no struggle..." ~ Unknown

"You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands." ~ Isaiah the Prophet

You Are a Chocolate Carmel Latte
At your best, you are: free spirited, down to earth, and relaxed
At your worst, you are: dogmatic and picky
You drink coffee because the very warmth of a coffee cup in hand makes you feel happy. You love to share a cuppa java with your friends.
I have a new Blogspot at http://bethlniquetteart.blogspot.com/, and you can visit my art gallery at www.niquette.net
Who I'd like to meet: I'm looking forward to the day I meet Jesus face to face. I'm looking forward to meeting Harriet Tubman, Ruth & Boaz, Golda Meir, Einstein, Sarah (Abraham's wife), Elizabeth (Zechariah's wife), George Washington Carver, the prophets Zepheniah & Isaiah; Michaelangelo, Charlton Heston, Paul Newman, Barbara Bane, President Lincoln and Moses. Thou Beautiful
Thou breath of fresh air,
Which the glowing embers did ignite;
Thou, fairest of the fair,
Who in the gloomy dark of night,
My wretched soul did bring to light,
And bathed my soul in pure delight,
I pray thee bear,
These words of admiration.
Scarce can I dare,
But must, for adoration,
Doth set my heart,
To dance in jubilation,
Send forth this part.
Your golden hair shines,
Like the sunrise o'er the mighty mount,
While the fresh coolness of the morn
Remains.
Your glowing face,
Would send a knight in flashing armour,
To die a thousand deaths,
In anticipation of a mere glimpse of its glory,
Your sparkling eyes,
Laugh with the waterfall,
And sprightly dance,
With the wind through the tall grass.
But the freshness of your spirit,
Doth pour forth the melody,
That floats on with the harmony,
Of your glorious beauty;
The reality amidst fading shadows.
Hi Beth! Gosh, I thought I sent you something about that via regular email, but it may have have gotten trapped in spam filters someplace along the line... Joys of a yahoo address..
Everything I did was via their standard "help" link.. I think it sends mail to: membercare@mc.classmates.com
sounds like he may have been having a 'bad' day. gleneden is a little pocket of lush heaven. i hope to see you sometime around the pc area. blessings! E
Well I stayed home sick Wednesday through the rest of the week. Then I hung out with my boyfriend and my friend Brianne pretty much all weekend. Chris and I went to a dance on Saturday. I'm working on my homework today because I'm failing some classes =/ but I suppose my weekend was pretty good.
Lol. I don't think you're strange. If that helps, haha =] I told him you weren't, too. I told him, "She's not weird and Amish, she does cool things with clouds!" haha :D
Yeah, my friend lives in that house. According to him, a big branch fell on top of him =/ but he's okay, haha.
The tree is okay I guess. We haven't gotten all of it cleaned up. My dad wants our neighbor to pay for it because it's her tree. And this happens every time there's ice. gah. =/
Well thank you! I hope you have a good day also =]
Why thank you :) my boyfriend's brother's myspace name is dizzle, his name is daniel, and his sister-in-law's name is trizzle, her name is trina. we're all on his top friends so it's kinda funny =P
Just checking in to see how you're doing! I was browsing through our file of "Missionary Communication" the other day and came across a Dramatic Differences newsletter - I don't remember when it was dated, but it was more recent than any I'd read! I enjoyed "catching up" with you all! ;-)
