Morbid Sin is the brainchild of singer/songwriter Bobby Lucas and was formed in 1985. In 1986 Wade Tyler joined, a former member of Morbid Sin's arch enemy Metal Storm and who in the future was a member of Gaza Strip. The band became regulars at clubs such as Escapades in Jersey City and many other clubs throughout the Tri-State area.
In 1988 their first demo was recorded entitled 'The Arrival of Sin' Soon thereafter the band received much deserved media attention. They were getting air play on both WRSU and WSOU, Setan Hall radio's hard hitting metal show. The band also became very popular in Germany. Morbid Sin began showcasing and opening for bands such as Hades, American Angel and Edgar Cayce, to name a few. Their stage show and unique hard-driving sound made them local legends.
Their shows were intense and drew fans in like flies. The stage consisted of 2 seven foot sections of wrought iron cemetery gates adorned with shrunken heads and a huge banner behind an actual coffin which Bobby would 'arise' from the dead and begin to perform. Very cool stage show!
Presently, Morbid Sin has morphed into a brilliant array of lyrics and hard hitting sounds to put their competition to shame! New additions to the line up include Jon Motley bringing on years of metal experience with bands such as Floor 13, Gaza Strip and Supremacy. Also new to the line up is Jimmy Roe, an amazing drummer formerly of Incantation, a band very popular in Europe, and a cover band called Sack Blabbath. Completing this new line up is rippin' bass player Joe Bruno, formerly of several local bands and Bobby Lucas' cousin.
