Wally (Intensified sound system)
For over 17 years Wally has been playing a unique blend of original Jamaican Ska, Rocksteady & Reggae riddems from the early 60's to mid 70's in and around Sydney.
He has been a collector of the young Jamaican groove since his teenage years. Growing up in the Sydney Ska scene of the 80's where 2 tone bands such as the Specials and the British beat were making their mark on the British music market, Wally's first memory of dj-ing was a slot at the Marlborouugh Hotel Newtown at the tendor age of 17, then later for Australian bands such as The Late Notes & The Allsorts with the Swing easy dj's .Sub cultures such as the Rude boys, Mods & Skinheads came to be very popular amongst the youth of the day and it was in the Rude boy scene where wally found his passion for the early Jamaican sounds
Although most grew out of the look, ie the short hair, Harrington jackets & Ben Sherman check shirts, Wally and a couple of others never did. From this Sydney Ska scene the now Intensified guys met.
Intensified! was a radio program on Radio Skid Row 88.9 fm, where Wally, Rudy & Max would come once a week and lay down some real cool Ska, Rocksteady & Reggae sounds from the golden age of Jamaican music, the show had a run of about 13 years. From this Wally built the Intensified sound system, put on numerous gigs and played all round Sydney.
Gigs wally has put on or has played at over the years are too many to list here, these include The Sydney Ska festival (March 1990), 3 years with Teddy V's Power Cuts at the Agincourt Hotel, The very popular Dub Cricket, 45 rpm & now teaming up with the guys from Vintage Records at The Annandale Hotel just to name a few. He describes his style of dj-ing as original Jamaican grooves with not all ways so original samples over top to spice things up.

The world's largest short film competition comes to Sydney! The Sydney segment of the internationally acclaimed 48 HOUR FILM PROJECT will be run from the Blue Mountains as a part of this year's Footbeat Festival. The weekend of 10-12 October promises to be a wild and sleepless weekend for the teams who are challenged to make a movie or music clip, to write, shoot and edit it in just 48 hours.
Filmmakers throughout NSW, including Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong, Lithgow, Bathurst and the Blue Mountains are invited to compete in the world's oldest and largest timed-film competition. The 48HFP takes place annually in over 70 cities around the world competing to win the title of Best 48 Hour Film of 2008.
The 48HFP can help launch a filmmaking career. 'Myles West', last year's winner in Brisbane, went on to win a swag of awards at the international competition in America, competing against the winners from 50 other cities.
