With two albums, North American and European touring under his belt, MC, Producer and DJ More Or Les is a Hip Hop triple threat. Voted no. 8 in both NOW Magazine’s Top 10 Toronto Artists of 2006 and Exclaim! Magazine’s Top 10 Hip Hop Artists of 2006, More Or Les “has some of the best beats of the year, with rhymes coming together to form a super-clever, charismatic MC persona.”
More Or Les dished out another healthy serving of his trademark socially conscious alternative to materialistic “thug rap” with his album The Truth About Rap in 2006 between European and Canadian touring engagements with The Herbaliser. Featured on the supergroup’s album "Same As It Never Was" on two songs - Game, Set & Match, and Words (bonus track), More or Les connected with The Herbaliser over three shows (Toronto, Ottawa & Montreal) on their 2005 Canadian tour, a week-long gig in London, UK in November 05 and European & Canadian tours July & October of 2006.
More Or Les toured two editions of his debut album I only stop for the Red Ants between 2003 and 2005. A critical success, Red Ants also generated an embarrassment of new performance and recording opportunities. In addition to IOSFTRA and The Truth About Rap, Les can be found emceeing on tracks by the UK’s Bryn “Dusty” Griffiths, Toronto’s Rhymicru, SJ the Wordburglar and Mindbender, and West Coasters Ndidi Cascade, Green TaRA and Dragon Fli Empire. (For complete credits, please visit www.moreorles.ca/discs.)
IOSFTRA also generated a video, A Little Too Much Weed, produced by Soft Citizen (dir.: Matt Eastman) in 2004. The video earned a coveted screening at The 2004 NEXT Festival, honoring the year’s most innovative international videos and was aired on Book TV but was ultimately deemed too controversial for MuchMusic. Today it enjoys viral popularity on YouTube.
More Or Les’ decade-long performance career has included such highlights as Pop Montreal with Killa-Jewel and Fresh Kils, Wavelength’s 7th Anniversary, Canadian appearances with the 2005 & 2004 Vans Warped Tour, opening for Eyedea & Abilities, a tour of Eastern Canada with SJ the Wordburglar, appearances at The Second City, Style In Progress at Dundas Square, a trip to each coast with the Perpetual Motion Roadshow, many local clubs around Toronto, not to mention the 2003 World Cycling Championships, the Canadian National Exhibition and busking on the streets.
With “crates steeped deep in hip hop history,” Les sometimes DJs at Toronto’s monthly classic Hip Hop celebration, Never Forgive Action and hosts newly-introduced Karaoke à la Rap in Montreal with Tashish and Moonstarr. He was the resident DJ at Toronto’s most influential underground hip hop showcase, In Divine Style, which ran weekly from 2001-2006 as well as spinning at Much Vibe’s Xposed Tour, Milk, and Hot Times.

Toronto is about to get a little bit brighter with the launch of WE’LO, as it pedals its way towards promoting a higher level of social and environmental consciousness. In an effort dedicated to producing clean green energy to power the lights for non-profit, government and corporate organizations, WE’LO is announcing its green arrival – on wheels.
The WeloBike, a prototype designed to produce an average of 50w/h of electricity per cycling hour (and 100w/h for experienced cyclists), will be the main feature at the Inaugural Product Launch Benefit Concert and Fundraiser, We’Local. In partnership with The Gateway homeless shelter, Welo is gearing up for this event, taking place in Toronto, ON at the Annex Wreckroom, at 8pm on September 13, 2007.
Hosted by local emcee Ill Seer, the benefit concert will feature several different genres of progressive music, including a live instrumental PA by Vangel (5 ¼ Recordings / Urbnet), folk-rock powerhouse Julia Churchill (Fire Escape Records), indie sensation Elephant, and the soulful hiphop of headliner The Runaway (Prophetic Poetic).
