"the reluctants" first assembled in the mid-1990s in "the bunker" -- a legendary space deep within the NFB (National Film Board of Canada) headquarters in Montreal.
Early sessions led to their debut self-titled independent CD release in 1999, which gained international attention via UN Radio in Bosnia, and featured originals like "Jupiter" and "Snow Angel". A second CD followed in 2003, aptly titled "More Reluctants", featuring 15 new original works, including "Through the Rain", "August Nights" and "I'm Blind".
Writer and music critic Phil Moscovitch notes "...the band's sound is clearly rooted in the folk/rock tradition of Bob Dylan, Ray Bonneville, Daniel Lanois and Lucinda Williams, without slavishly imitating any one of them".
Individual band members also actively pursue solo projects in music, film and publishing. "Dream Machine," their 3rd album, was launched in early 2009.
Hi Guys! It's great to meet you here. Powerful tunes you've got there. Also enjoyed the slideshow; however I think we could see a little more of William the Studio Dog. Am I right?!! Cheers, Sue Turpin
