Morgan Clamp is writing songs for YOU!
“Make no mistakes about it, I'm only interested in making music that
people can relate to. It’s important for me to feel a true bond with the music, but it’s equally important for me to
know that I’ve written something that my audience will truly identify with” says Clamp
Born outside of Toronto, Canada into a British family, Morgan caught onto his love of music at an early age. “My
dad was always playing his John Lennon tapes in the car during our long drives and when I would get home my
older-brother would let me into his room to listen to the records of the American rockers he had been discovering.
I recall sitting with him and listening to artists like Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty. I quickly felt that sensation
someone feels when they’re listening to an undeniable hit!” The music bug had begun to set in.
By the time Morgan was in his teens he began to explore his own talents in music. “I’ve certainly never made
music to impress other musicians. Even in my early days of working on my songs, the only goal was to blend the
words of my life’s story with a great melody. It’s just that simple. Plus being honest and straight forward in my
writing has served as a great therapy for me in regards to the everyday struggles of my personal life!”
Recently, Morgan packed a bag and guitar case and headed to New York City to begin recording his songs. In
the time Morgan has spent in NYC he has also been very successful in the Manhattan music scene by performing
in many of the city's music clubs. “There have been some incredible nights in NYC...It’s very exciting to look out
into a sold out room of people and see them singing along with your words – Especially at this stage of the game.
I’m still an independent artist doing all the work from the ground up, so when you see a total stranger singing word
for word, you know you’ve made a real connection with that persons life, and that’s what it’s all about for me”
The Songwriters Hall Of Fame has chosen Morgan's song "Days Away" to be on their Best of the New Writers
Showcase Series CD's. A passionate and instantly memorable song which describes the inevitable change that
life brings. "It feels great to be recognized by the same organization who’ve inducted many of my hero's into their
hall of fame" says Morgan.
