I was born in Jefferson County in Appalachian Ohio.
The greatest influence on my music was my mother and father, who fostered a good home life in which to pursue my dreams, and so I spent my teen years playing in various folk and bluegrass ensembles.
I spent many Saturday evenings backstage the WWVA Jamboree in nearby Wheeling, West Virginia. I met a great banjo player by the name of Roger Bland. He was a well-known banjo player in Wheeling who taught me how to pick and how to set up my instrument properly.
I recorded my first record at Ripon College in Wisconsin with a band known as The Other Half. Upon graduation from college, I moved to Hawaii where I became a permanent member of the Don Ho Show. I played the nightly shows and the daily ABC television series for a period of five years. I moved to California in 1980.
I have performed or recorded with Jerry Byrd, Glenn Campbell, Jimmy Martin, Chris Hillman, Herb Pedersen, Dennis Caplinger, John Moore, Kenny Rogers, Mel Tillis, and many other local musicians and friends.

Hi Dave We actually met at the Temecula Festival in March, plus I've seen you playing with Mike Nadolson a couple times. Bob and I were in a band called "Heart of Grass" a couple of years back; we played the main stage at Topanga. I'm a banjo player myself, but it's tough to put down the guitar in this group--so we may use you sometime!
