A Description of Morgenside Through the Eyes of a Friend:
"For the past month and bit now I've been going out a couple times a week to watch bands play. Especially a band called “Morgenside” with band mates Blair, Barry and Chris. I don't think I've seen a group of musicians play with more passion and love than this band. Their music is enchanting and very much enjoyable. The intonation, cadence, form, phrasing, harmony, and melody... they have it. They definitely deserve a full out encore.
Here is a simple critique for the band members. I would definitely say props up to Blair for writing such remarkable lyrics and singing them... wow, can he hit some long high notes. Amplifying the mood and perhaps the most outspoken member of the band is Barry. Perhaps I've got more to say about Chris, cause I think he's hot... well... he is..., I do enjoy drumming and I do find it fascinating, aside from Chris being hot. Being the drummer and all Chris is the foundation for most, and if all, the songs that they perform. Listening, Chris is accurate, definitely good at implementing dynamics and as well as helping the piece progress. In a visual sense Chris is often engrossed in the piece and his facial expressions show it.

17/02/08 - MORGENSIDE WINS!!! MOVING TO THE NEXT ROUND!!
Well it looks like the Doctor's prescription was exactly what we needed... WE JUST WON our qualifying rounds with BOTH Georgian College's BOTB and LOCAL & LOUD!!! That doesn't mean we're in the clear just yet though... We still have the finals to compete in at the college TUESDAY MARCH 4th and the Local & Loud semi-finals on SATURDAY APRIL 5TH. But the good news: WE JUST WON $150 and recording time with LAKE EFFECTS STUDIOS to contribute a song on their 2008 Local & Loud compilation CD!!! We can die a happy band now!! hahaha.
10/01/08 - The Doc's Prescription: PLAY MORE SHOWS!!
Well the New Year is upon us and like everyone else, MORGENSIDE is no exception to the makings of a New Year Resolution.... so, just like the title suggests, 2008 will be the year of the show!!! Already we have a number of shows lined up, with more just around the corner, including the Battle of the Bands at Georgian College and Barrie's annual Local and Loud band competition. 24/12/07 - HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU AND YOURS!!
We would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, a Happy Hanukkah and wonderful Eid al-adha!! No matter how you choose to celebrate this time of the year, the main focus is on friends and family, and being with the ones we love. Over the last year we made many amazing new friends and we can't help but feel incredibly lucky for it... so to celebrate we raise our glasses and toast a Holiday "CHEERS" to everyone who has helped us along the way. You know who you are!! Again a big thanks! We look forward to seeing you all in the New Year. HERE'S TO 2008!!
16/12/07 - SEMESTER'S FINALLY DONE, PREPARING FOR DEBUT
We must appologize for the lack of attention to our Myspace over the last couple of months. It would be nice to come up with some witty excuse like we were on our European Tour and all the cute girls over there stole every last drop of time away from us, but unfortunately this is only a problem that will exist in our exciting futures and not our past. You will be happy to hear though that MORGENSIDE is very very close to having our first complete and polished set which we will be debuting at the FOUNDATION on January 26th (which just happens to be Blair's Champagne birthday!). We hope to everyone out that night to help us celebrate both occassions.
18/09/07 - LOSING A MEMBER IS NEVER FUN...
Due to creative differences, Mike Swan has decided to leave MORGENSIDE to persue his own path in music, continuing his studies as a musician and songwriter. We wish him the very best and look forward to sharing the stage with him one day like we dreamt about all summer.
06/09/07 - BACK TO CLASS, BACK TO THE STUDIO
After a month of vacations, weddings, golf tournaments, and breakups keeping us from our craft, we are now finally able to get back to the ol' grind stone and start producing music again!! Some of us are back in school, others not so lucky, but no matter what, we are all very excited to be back doing what we love. Plans are being made to get back into the studio and start putting together the preliminary stages of (ready for this??) our FIRST ALBUM!! Damn I love the sound of that!! We'll be definitely keeping everyone posted as details start flowing in. Just keep checking in every so often!
28/07/07 - PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE...
Like the titles says, we've been pretty much practicing non-stop all summer, jamming out new songs, expanding the limits of old ones, getting ourselves ready and polished for shows in the near future. We've been upgrading our equipment, Mike now has his own vintage Traynor (told you they were good!!) and right now Blair is working on putting together some custom effects pedals. August is starting to get pretty booked up for all of us with other things, so we'll just have to see where it all goes for the next 30 days. For the time being go enjoy some sunshine... we definitely all need it!! Well maybe everyone besides Chris....
14/06/07 - AMAZING SHOTS.... THANK YOU LITTLE MISS PHOTO!!
Again!! Another Kick Ass photo shoot with the ever so awesome Little Miss Photo! We figured we should get some great shots taken of the entire band since 50% of us are entire new in the last month or two. We headed over to my Uncle's farm... lots of photo opts there... we actually ran out of film (digital memory actually, but film just sounds better)! Hey dudes. How are things rollin this summer? We will be on the rock 95 CD compilation that will be recorded at Lake effects studios. Were going into the studio on thursday, and i hope you guys will check out the finished product that will follow soon after.
