Morkret are a melodic extreme metal band from Lancashire, UK. They take a unique approach to extreme metal, blending lyrical melodies with complex arrangements, fast tempos and virtuosic instrumental work. The band was formed in 2003 by frontman David C. Bond, and long time friend Matt Wells. Since the beginning, David has written all the music for Morkret, as well as lyrics. Since 2003, Morkret has gone through many line-up changes and stylistic developments, before arriving at its firmly established current state.
In September 2007, Morkret released their debut album 'Chaos To The Order' which featured 7 tracks of intense musicality, establishing Morkret as one of the leading exponents of melodic extreme metal in the UK. The album was described in reviews as "a terrific album from a band that should see much more recognition in the future", and was likened to Scandinavian bands such as Norther, Turisas, Children Of Bodom and At The Gates.
After the release of 'Chaos To The Order', Morkret began playing a series of live shows in the UK to support the release, but also immediately began writing new material for a second album. Due to this extraordinary productivity, by Jan 2008 Morkret were already set to enter the studio to record their second album. The album entitled 'The Point Of No Return' was recorded over a period of around four months, and was mixed and mastered by Tommy Fobia in June 2008.
'The Point Of No Return' was released on the 28th June 2008, and is available both online and at live shows. The band supported the release of this CD with several headlining shows in the UK, as well as an appearence at the Davefest unsigned metal festival. It is rare to find such a collection of talent and technical ability in one band, especially with compositional skills to match. For a young band, described as "a riveting band, unafraid to experiment with their sound", it would seem that the sky is the limit..
