Interests

  • General

The male half of me loves to write song lyrics and have done it for longer than I care to admit. I got started writing lyrics because of Lennon and McCartney but essentially I'm Bernie Taupin waiting for his Elton John - musically speaking. My female half loves to draw and paint and wander aimlessly through art galleries.
  • Music

The Beatles - duh. Do you see a trend with the male part of me? The female part of this duo loves alternative rock - partially because it drives the male part crazy. Gotta have a hobby.
  • Movies

We both LOVE old movies and romantic comedies - or just plain old romance. Half of us also likes adventure movies - the other half, not so much.
  • Television

  • Books

Morning Coffee by Elizabeth Alan is the current favorite - lol. I love Jane Austen and the Bronte sisters. Do I need to specify whether I'm the male or female part here? I didn't think so. Favorite current authors would have to include John Grisham, Janet Evanovich (no one else can make me laugh out loud quite as often as I sit alone), Nora Roberts, and Patricia Cornwell (please bring back the Kay Scarpetta of old) just to name a few.
  • Heroes

Anyone who does something to bring a little hope or sunshine to someone else's life just because... And, of course, The Beatles

About me:

........

Morning Coffee is a romantic novel written by a female male co-authoring team. Using a combination of their middle names this female male co-authoring team became one author, Elizabeth Alan. Karen ELIZABETH Luethke and Chester ALAN Blum are the two author's who, together, are Elizabeth Alan. We believe that in a first-ever event of its kind a book has been written by a couple who met on the Internet.

Using a uniquely creative volleying process, Morning Coffee was written entirely via emails back and forth between the two. At the time the book was being written Karen lived in California and Chet lived in New York. The book was begun before the two ever met in person.

These two people came together on an Internet message board in the late summer of 2004. During the course of many conversations on their computers, Karen and Chet soon discovered a shared passion for the arts. Karen’s talent runs towards drawing and painting while Chet is a prolific song lyricist. Karen, using a combination of pastels and pencils, drew the cover for Morning Coffee, while three of Chet’s songs appear in the book itself. In fact, the book’s name is derived from one of Chet’s songs, Morning Coffee In Bed.

The kindred spirits soon came to realize that they shared a romantic nature and it wasn’t long before the two were writing short stories that were essentially romantic vignettes. It was during this time they found they possessed the unique ability to write creatively back and forth, creating stories that were both captivating and heart warming.

Karen and Chet took this ability to the next level when Karen developed the initial characters and scene for what would ultimately become Morning Coffee. Chet saw the potential in the characters and storyline and added to Karen’s original idea. This back and forth volleying of thoughts continued idea by idea until what ultimately became Morning Coffee was completed.

Who I'd like to meet:

More than anything I'd like to meet The Beatles - - got to meet John standing at a crosswalk waiting for a light to change in NYC - - circa 1975 and it seems like yesterday
