It's Def Poetry ... Sex in the City...meets...In Living Color ...Vagina Monologues!!!! A musical comedy that spoofs all the quirky things that go on in a persons mind, pants and bedroom.
Sex is more than a three letter word and 69 ain't just a number has been compared to the unashamed writings of Vagina Monologues, combined with the interchangeable characters of In Living Color and the hip trendy multi-cultural cast of Rent.
This musical comedy made up of skits, monologues, song and dance promises to be a crowd pleaser as well as a crowd teaser. Tickling even the most frigid funny bone as its short skits explore all the quirky situations that deal with love, lust, lies, and relationships.

New York City, Sept, 2008- When was the last time everyday sex puts a smile on someone’s face? Well, get ready to grin. This brand new stage production compiles the unspoken quirky tales of what really goes on in a persons mind, pants, and bedroom. With musical skits, comedic monologues, song and dance these unspoken tales are wittingly outspoken.
In a day and age when the topic of sex is overrated, overexposed, and pretentiously portrayed, this trendy new musical puts a new twist to the term “Let’s Talk About Sex!” With a hip young multicultural cast of sexy dancers, singers, comedic actors, and poets, “Sex Is…” hopes to titillate even the most frigid funny bone.
Some people are apprehensive to even discuss certain issues of sex, some people talk too much about sex, yet through monologues, that play and interacts with the audience and fun feel good musical skits this production finds the happy medium. Turning sexual issues into silly satires, while simultaneously capturing the sensitivity behind each human emotion. “Sex Is…” keeps the viewer not only laughing, but intently listening as well.
How many writers have sat down to write a novel and have never finished? Well, it wasn’t much different for the playwright Jahidah Diaab. “Sex Is…” at one time was no more than an unfinished novel collecting dust under the creator’s bed. Today it has evolved into a vivacious musical production with colors, movement, and sound burning to tell its story out loud!
Unlike the words that at one time laid frozen on the pages of that dust filled novel, this live show creates a humorous and very entertaining visual to be remembered hopefully long after the last bow has been taken.
"69 Ain’t Just A Number” has been compared to the unashamed writings of “The Vagina Monologues”, the interactions of characters of “In Living Color” and the musical production of “Rent”, “Sex Is…” returns each season with a sometimes revolving and new cast. “Sex Is…” hopes to be a huge Broadway success!!!

Since 2000, Jahidah Diaab, Angela Valentine, Tandrea Lane, Oveta Clinton and Nikia Boone have been producing, creating and selling out shows. These five young sisters have set out to bring a new face to the world of Off Off Broadway. Four African American mothers and one single sister have joined hands and hearts and are becoming a force to be reckoned with on stage and off.
Creator, Writer and Producer and teacher by day, Jahidah Diaab has been cultivating and producing "Sex Is More Than A Three Letter Word And 69 Ain't Just A Number for the past 7 years. As a mother, teacher, daughter and friend, she has found her private place in the world within the haven of storytelling, and play writing and screen writing. Educationally and on paper, Jahidah has received her degree from Hunter College and Marymount college, where she studied Fine Arts. Silence of the Minds – 13 Min. Angela Valentine, Producer, Director, Actor, Casting, Photographer, and dear friend was first cast as a few primary roles in the productions first season run of "Sex is..." She played the diva angel and the bitter scorned lover. At the seasons closing Angela was so inspired by the production that she insisted Jahidah bring it back for another season. Jahidah agreed and with the deliberate assistance of Angela they began production and had over 10 successful runs for the last 8 years! Selling out every show in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
One year later at an audition for the production Ms. Oveta Clinton was looking for a project to lend her Stage Managing skills to. Her desire for the stage production began at Pseudo.com and the Joseph Public Theater Oveta's first stage job was Dog Eaters directed by Michael Grief. After one season of working with Sex Is Oveta wanted to come back and use all of her talents and experience to help make the production a continued success, she has been more than a blessing to the team of Morning Glory Productions.
That same year Nikia Boone who was in the audience of the opening season was so exited about the production that she came out to the auditions for the following run. She landed several roles. She got such rave reviews for her roles that Jahidah decided to invite her back to be a part of the cast again. Her zeal for the production was so great that she took on the role of Musical Production Assistant and the Casting Director for the following year.
The pulse behind this production is the compilation of songs that cater to the many skits and monologues. This part of the production could not happen without the help of Tandrea Lane A.K.A. D.J Tam Jams. Tammy met Jahidah 6 years ago at a showcase, and they have been friends and partners since. D.J Tam Jams has been holding it down for all the female D.J's across the tri-state area.
So there you have it the Core Four plus on diva! Or better known as the production team of Sex Is More Than A Three Letter Word And 69 Ain't Just A Number
