Morning Lane is a 4 piece rock-pop-alternative London-based band currently showcasing at London venues including The Barfly, Borderline, The Marquee and Water Rats in front of an ever growing crowd, with recordings attracting airplay across the UK and TV exposure across the world. ML are now attracting high profile support slots with the likes of Clocks (currently touring with Scouting for Girls) and Bloc Party side-project Pin Me Down, recommendations for Glastonbury 2009 and an excited fan base across the capital.
Morning Lane are bassist Ross Butler, drummer Jean-Marc Valat, guitarist Steve Dourdil and singer Stephen Aravena who came on board in 2006, shortly after the band released its first album Cry With A Smile on its own label. Formed from a desire to write music with heart and real substance that would stand out from the vacuous pop of many of their contemporaries, Morning Lane’s sound draws on influences as diverse as U2, The Velvet Underground, The Who, Foo Fighters, Snow Patrol, The Flaming Lips and Muse, yet remaining refreshingly unique, swinging from dark, pounding grooves to fragile, heartfelt melodies, from sleazy, scuzzy riffs to exhilarating, uplifting choruses, as showcased on the band’s recent 6 track EP Night & Day.
