For those who haven’t heard, our bassist, friend, and brother, Slinky (also known as John Orem) passed away on July 26th, 2009 at the age of 25. This tragic loss has been a crushing blow to our little family known as morningside. The question we’ve been asking ourselves is “What now?” We have decided to press on. Jay will take over bass guitar duties, and the role of lead singer will likely be shifted to Johnny. A name change may also be imminent, and is probably necessary as our sound will be forever changed. We will be permanently scarred by this loss, but we believe Slinky would have wanted us to keep rocking. Thanks to everyone for your support in this time of great sadness.
So Beautiful

Its pretty funny when you can buy a couple boxes of girlscout cookies for $3 and then later that night sell them to drunk patrons for $5 a box. We'll get in the studio faster than I thought we would! -Brandon

Holy fuck. I just heard about Slinky oh my God. He was my favorite musician when I was coming up, a great guy to talk to, and a nice dude. Holy shit, I probably wont be the same again.
I just can't believe the news I just heard about John. I am at a loss for words and I am in so much shock that I am having a hard time writing.
Baltimore has lost a great musician in this town. I remember the days of walking home from SP Middle school with Jay and John. The entire time I would push John to do impersonations of characters..including the Crypt Keeper from the TV show. I remember sitting at Jay and John's house listening to them record songs on the little play school tape player with the microphone hanging on the side. John was one of the reasons I wanted to play music. He inspired me...
