Morphey is a rock/trip-hop band formed in March 2006 composed of Delia (vocals), Seb (guitar) and Juan (decks).
This child-hearted band expresses itself with a simple and sensitive music, speaking about love, fear, joy, peace and freedom.
Delia grew up in soul and reggae music her parents listened to. Young singer with a huge charisma, she’s enable to appropriate herself soul music great standards from the seventies and add her own sweetness. She started writing songs at 11. At 15, she sang with rappers from her neighbourhood who performed an amateur videoclip which is a nice memory for her. She sang for 2 years in different places in Marseille like “Le Dôme” or “L’Espace Julien” where she won several competitions.
Seb is influenced by heavy rock, funk and rhythm’n’blues. He grew up with his father’s favourite rock bands (The Beatles, the Who, the Rolling Stones, the Kinks, the Doors, etc.) and his mother’s jazz CDs (Bill Evans, Charlie Parker, Duke Ellington, Clifford Brown, etc.). As a teenager, guitar in hands, he rapidly turned to heavier alternative bands like Rage Against The Machine, Deus, Led Zeppelin, Sonic Youth but he was still influenced by the jazz funk music (Herbie Hancock, Jimmy Smith, etc.) and trip-hop bands like Massive Attack, Morcheeba, Pressure Drop or more broadly soul, jazz and funk from the seventies and electro from the nineties. He played in different bands and started to write songs on his own in 2006 while looking for the singer who would naturally blend into his music.
Juan listened to what his older brothers listened to - the Beasties Boys, Led Zeppelin, Queen. His first Sankoukai vinyl broken in 2 hours hearing time. His first tape was Jive Bunny and The Master Misters, his first CD Dire Straight (Brother In Arms) and then, in 1995, he got his first turntables. Since, he enjoys making music on his computer. In 2003, he created “Stasso”, an association which facilitates cultural and artistic trading and participates to artistic projects. In 2001, he met Seb at university and in July 2006 he joined Morphey’s line up as their DJ.
They started by rehearsing acoustic rock and soul music standards from the seventies while recording songs composed by Seb on which they added lyrics they wrote together.
Since last summer, Morphey has performed different concerts: in hospitals for sick children (La Timone Hospital, Marseille), in charity events (Handicap International at the Balthazar in Marseille), in private parties and in several concert places (Le Lounge, Le Melody Café, La Fête de la Musique).
Their first self-released mini LP, DREAM CATCHER, came out in April 2007. It consists of 7 tracks masterised by Gerald Kuentz. It enabled to give a direction to their work. Little musical parchment, rich in diversity, varying between seventies rock songs and modern electro.
Delia’s delicate and romantic voice glides on a gloomy and hypnotic music. The songs, at times velvety, aggressive, simple or complex, make the very essence of their identity.
In this little game they’ve created, they’ve learned how to share and communicate despite their varied personalities. And what derives from it is this sincere and energetic music.

Voila plus d'un an déja que la guerre du silence a commencée......quelques tribus et nombreux artistes se sont maintenant regroupés pour faire face à cette dictature des plus sévères....L'esprit des grands anciens est donc maintenant parmi nous, il va nous guider tel un livre ouvert vers le secret du 1er Element.....Piece maitresse de ce fantastik puzzle, elle redonnera corps à sésame perdues, ces créateurs oubliés sans qui cette magie n'aurait jamais existée.....Nous allons donc voyager au centre du cratère pour celebrer la renaissance de ses nuits festives et de ces êtres sacrés.......

La découverte de l'air et du feux maintenant réunis, nous a permit de raviver enfin les braises du passé......Le combat continue....mais un rêve Commence...
