09 Old Skool by MAS P v Merenia Gillies

He's a man with more cut, slices and dices than any master chef, hand-crafting custom-made recipes to dazzle the musical palates of any discerning crowd. Morphingaz is well qualified to do so. His pedigree is show material with a DJ career that began at thirteen.

But Australia is merely one corner of a vast globe and the man with golden digits invaded the UK and soon dug his heels in at the original internet radio station GAIALIVE.COM His skills were soon recognized, resulting in his role as resident DJ on the shows The Real Deal Rap Show and Bless the Mic where his inimitable style linked him with guests like Roots Manuva, Blak Twang, Ty, Est’elle, Aphletik, Skeme, Seanie T, Karl Hinds and many other voices that have gone on to carve new shapes in hip hop.

Micke was still working the venues and studios as well as the air-waves; Rocking top European venues and festivals with entertainers like Mocky, Chilly Gonzalez, Talvin Singh and the Moroccan Master Musicians. He also secured a 3 year stint turntabling for Californian rap star Aphletik, supporting some of his favourite artists including Public Enemy, Talib Kweli and James Brown.

Since returning home to Sydney, Micke has built a portfolio with numerous talents from all the continents as a producer, performer, turntablist and teacher. ME...U - THE BUSINESS CARD EP

Everybody knows turntablism is the future of music. Everybody knows that the skillset of the turntablist is unparalleled within the sphere of live performance. As the technology evolves and the turntable becomes a metaphor for manipulation of sound, so the turntablist's skills are adapted to meet the new challenges and embrace the new possibilities.

Yet what attracts us to the turntablist sound? The innocence, the raw energy, the technical control, the seeming impossibility of actually creating and holding a unique beat in real time?

Who knows, but with this brand new release, Mickey Morphingaz, turntablist extraordinaire delivers 6 fresh answers to these deep and meaningful questions. This is the Business Card EP. Get it now if you know what's good for you! All the tracks are available in 320k MP3, encoded with iTunes for the absolute best sound quality, and with exclusive artwork embedded. Hey Mickey :

Nothing brings us closer to the 80s than the sound of Toni Basil and her cheerleaders, ushering in the pop culture that was to sweep away everything that had come before. Bubblegum lyrics, and equally chewy dance routines were no obstacle to the success of the original and in this 2007 reworking Mickey Morphingaz rebrands himself as the archetypal 21st century cheerleader, leading from the decks, and sending out the call we know and love so well... Hey Mickey you're so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind...

Moi Aussie

A serenade to the wild, a call to the outback, marimba strokes and lush percussive reverb layer together, wash across each other as the persisitent call of the wild turntable echoes across the lazy clubbers collective dreamtime. Strange memories of other countries, other peoples, strange tongues, exotic cuisines, and finally a sense that this is Australia, this is home.
