Influences

The third album from the Perth trio of Graphic, Tommahawk and Mortar, Chasms of the Citadel finds the three MCs refining their flows, retaining their trademark dark sound and adding guaranteed party rockers like the single "Thanks for the Venom". As members of Perth's Syllabolix crew (with Downsyde, Drapht, Layla, Hunter, Matty B), Clandestien have appeared on a large number of the best albums to have emerged from Western Australia and cemented their fanbase with two strong selling albums of their own, Clandestien and Dynasty. Their third album finds them exploring a greater range of styles while staying true to the ominous sound that has built them a solid fanbase.

   About Mortar
Few MCs really reach beyond the realms of daily experience. Most prefer to stick to the tried and true subject matter that has underpinned the genre since its genesis. Mortar, producer and one of three MCs from Perth’s sinister warriors Clandestien is not among them. Never settling for the same formulae, he looks to more arcane mathematics when constructing his rhymes. Following last year’s opening solo salvo, Mortarshell Symphony, Mortar martyr delves deeper in the world of the unseen on Sacred Geometry. Underpinned by sinister strings and macabre ambience, the MC tackles the world of the occult with his ferocious vernacular. From the cornerstone opener “The Foundation”, through the militant “Taking of Rome” to the sci-fi synth funk of “The Answers 2”, Mortar’s solo stylings encompass the lesser-explored realms of metaphor. He continues with a homage to the work of Douglas Adams on ‘Life, The Universe, Everything’, evades all conquering malevolent forces on “Escape from the Planet of the Apes” and enlists fellow Clandestien generals Tomahawk and Graphic on “Release the Flames”. The penultimate track, and lead single, “Jacob’s Ladder” is underpinned by a monstrous avalanche of drums that Mortar pummels into submission with his implacable rhyme schemes. Sacred Geometry is another twisted piece in the evolving Clandestien puzzle, and Mortar has again proven himself one of the most talented MC/producer double threats in Australia.

Aerosol Era

BIAS B - AEROSOL ERA - OUT NOW through Wordburner/Obese Distribution.

Throughout the 80s and 90’s Melbourne experienced a graffiti explosion which quickly cemented the city in the history books for it’s influence on style and development of the graffiti art culture. Bias takes us on a journey back to his days growing up on the train lines with the infamous Wild Child Art crew, to the days he calls the Aerosol Era. Tracks that describe the often tumultuous life of a writer, like “Militant Mindstate,” “Another Day,” and “Racked That,” showcase the very personal and introspective nature of Aerosol Era through the eyes of one of Australian hip hop’s most influential poets. Featuring production by Jase, Bigfoot, Peril, Ransom, Ciecmate and Brothers Stoney and representing Melbourne’s most prolific graffiti crews DMA, WCA, USA, CTF, RDC, F1C, TSF, Hursty Boys and
