about
From 2000 on I've been playing records, inspired by the deeper and more soulful side of techno and house. Between 2000 and 2006 I mainly focused on collecting vinyl, sometimes flying to London for buying rare original pressings of classic tunes at the Reckless or MVE stores in the Soho district. My passion for this classic sound resulted in a double performance on "Switch" (Studio Brussel) in 2007 where two of my classics mixes were broadcasted. In the same year I regained my interest in todays electronic music and moved my focus from collecting records to performing, inspired by my biggest dj influences Ron Hardy (R.I.P.) and Derrick May. In the beginning of 2008 I launched the “Feel This Funk” mix series (check blog).
I've been around as a producer as well, creating a sample fueled mixture between lo-fi deep house, dub and funk. You can hear some of my stuff in the player above. "Dubfunk 050" is featured on a vinyl compilation on the Meakusma imprint. At the moment I'm working on a collaboration with long time friend Dennis Albert.
Fresh from playing Fabric in London, Berghain in Berlin and Robert Johnson in Offenbach (3 of the best clubs in the world), Levon Vincent comes to Manna for his 4th DJ set on European soil. As part of the new New York underground house movement (together with Jus Ed, DJ Qu, etc), Levon has been responable for the renaissance of house and techno in New York and is now rapidly spreading his wings, his records causing big waves in the European club scene. A self-confessed scientist working in the field of ass-shakery, Levon has been trained in the do's and don'ts of the club scene in New York since 1992, hanging out with Dee-lite (before they became famous), going to legendary clubs like the Sound Factory and DJ'ing in bars and clubs all over town. His recent podcast for Resident Advisor caused a big stir as well and when he was playing in Germany recently, even magazine Der Spiegel wrote an article about this phenomenon.
Also on the roster is Roger 23. Roger has released on Playhouse, Volt Musik, Baud and Meakusma. His dj sets are ecletic, incorporating house, techno and weird 80's stuff. He is a true craftsman when it comes to Dj'ing, having an amazing talent to 'feel' the dancefloor, mixing in stuff from leftfield, being able to always surprise his audience, without ever losing the groove, although the 'groove' in Roger's hands is totally his own unique voice.
Levon Vincent (Deconstruct, Novel Sound, USA) Roger 23 (Playhouse, meakusma, GER) Sensu & mck (Plain, meakusma, manna)
Start: 23.00 Entry: 5€/7€ (after midnight) More info: www.manna-bxl.be

Hoi!
Helaas. Volgende keer beter. Love. Proper.
well klang man, minimal rhymes with invisible. and i don't feel, what i can't see. i am a bit biased. thanks for the kind words. i hope i don't disappoint.
I don't think you need an external media player - the stream is embedded in the FM Brussel site - just click 'luister' and, as if by magic, it will appear. I just interviewed Kate Simko for the show after next by the way!
cool man, send me your new mix when it's done. Im gonna start again my teknology show too in august.
yeah, im waiting for 2 new releases in the next days (weeks?), one on Nightvision with Chez Damier and Lee Holman remixes, and my remixes of Kai Alcé on NDATL. I'll let you inform ;)
Vanavond Yann & Gen combo houseset @ Bar Deco, St-Pietersnieuwstr. (einde straat) - chicago house, house, forgotten classics, boogie, ... - van 01u tot ... Welkom! Grtz Jan
Thanks mate!
Most definitely. I saw you're postings awhile back I think in regards to the vinyl vs. mp3 djing debate on somone's blog and appreciated you comments. but never made it around to checking your stuff out. glad we connected. peace, kuri
