Love to shop at Dark Delicacies, Necromance, Shocklines. Addicted to Rue Morgue magazine and a frequent Fangoria reader. Cemetery walks and photography, hearses, classic cars in general. Mutter Museum, Petersen's, Living Dead Dolls. I'm a vegetarian, and like to cook when the mood strikes me--don't think I have a natural knack for it, so the dishes don't always come out the way I expect, but none of 'em have killed me so far. ;)

| | Movies | Not into films featuring animal cruelty or graphic sexual violence against women: other than that, the field is wide open. Some favorites are Phantom of the Paradise, Dead Ringers, Garden State, Tommy, Black Christmas, Cronicas, Hellraiser, Dead and Breakfast, Army of Darkness, Bubba Ho-Tep, May, Halloween (just the first one--an absolute classic!), Cannibal! The Musical, Feed, They Live, Dead End, Ju-On, Reservoir Dogs, Hardware (fantastic film), To Live & Die In LA, Love Object, Wicked City, Aftermath. | | Books | Weaveworld by Clive Barker: because the world within a world rang so true and so deep; Books of Blood because the horrors did too--deliciously; "The Great Gatsby" by Fitzgerald, "The Other" by Thomas Tryon;
Anything by Joe Lansdale and David J. Schow; Charles Grant; Gary Braunbeck; Dennis Etchison, PZ Brite, Steve Niles, Loren Rhoads (I will miss Morbid Curiosity), Memorial photography/Stanley B. Burns archive books,
James Lee Burke, Roberta Lannes, Norman Partridge, Brian Hodge, Kim Newman, Ramsey Campbell, Kealan Patrick Burke, Ian Rankin, Caitlin Kiernan, Christa Faust (LOVED Hoodtown), Cemetery Dance, Subterranean Press, Dennis Lehane, all Stephen Jones anthologies, Tim Lebbon, Brian Keene. Bloom County (Opus is my favorite), Berkely Breathed, Far Side, Pizarro, Pearls Before Swine.
Many series: Harry Bosch, Amanda Raisin, Hamish McBeth, Dave Robicheaux, Poirot, and and and ......
Honorable Mention to Stephen King: Carrie was the first horror novel I remember reading, in addition to an anthology of "true but undocumented" exorcism and demon stories. The book would probably make me laugh now with overkill description, but at 7 the book was absolutely riveting!
| | Heroes | Clive Barker: live well and fully, create, experience, and most importantly laugh at everything, especially yourself; express yourself in everything you do. In addition, just be a helluva fun and interesting person that other people want to drink a beer with.
Also John Doe--love X, love the solo stuff, love everything he's done. His music evokes such an emotional response--I couldn't live without it. |
