    It started several years ago, when Mortukai was founded as a studio project. At the time Ivo was busy creating some technical songs. He wrote the songs on his computer before he actually started playing them on guitar. This way of songwriting allowed him to create the technical songs that are today. His friend Thomas joined him to play the 2nd guitar parts. While playing these songs they felt more and more like creating a band. So they decided to start the search. After a few auditions with a lot of different people, they ended up with Pierre (ex Deathbox) on drums and Brian (ex Deliberate Jeopardization) on bass. They only had to find someone for the vocals. After a long search they got a message from someone who lived in emmen. Considering the distance the band was a bit sceptic, but when they met Jorrick (ex Endemic) and felt his enthousiasm, they knew he was the right guy for the job. From that point on Mortukai started playing a lot of shows and the bandmembers started to develope themselves. They shared the stage with the likes of: Ignominious Incaceration (uk), The Dying (be), Stigma (it), The Darkest Red (nl), As Enemies Arise (nl) and more. After playing a few great shows they decided to part ways with Pierre. At the time he was very busy with his schoolwork and booking agency, so he had trouble keeping up with the progressing line the band was following. The search for a new drummer took ages, but they finally ran into Jordy. At the time he was playing in a deathmetal band called Chaos and was looking for a new challenge. He was very motivated and learned to play the existing set of songs in a short period of time. Mortukai is now ready to hit the stage again in 2011! With new technical and challenging songs already written, they are sure to cause a new sensation in the metal scene.
