Motherbox Records began in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. It was
started by a quartet, a vegan sxe friendly band by the name Spirit
Assembly. Spirit Assembly was an emo-ish band with a good following from
New Holland/Denver PA - and at the time of this release I was living with a few
of them over a garage. They released a record - their own - a 7" called
"Fruit of Hate". Besides being their roommate I was the music director at
the local area college (Millerville University - WIXQ).
A few months later due to my being one of the few roommates who had a job - I
was invited to help with another release ... at the point of Motherbox
release #2 - Larry Martin and myself were the financier/planners and all
that. Life was good and fun back then - and that second record had mostly
good songs. Then I graduated ... Larry and I went to England where we sort
of had a falling out - I got sick of vegetarian lasagna and started eating
meat. I drank with a group of Brit and Aussie punks ... and by the end of
the trip our relationship was somewhat strained. The third Motherbox
release had already been slated and so it was released - and the partnership
ended.
I guess I will do a series of Blogs on the various releases and what not so
check back for them.
