   About Burnst
"the soundtrack to a sloppy passion killing," (Manchester Resident)

"Its about half eleven by the time Burnst (???) come on, from the little I’ve heard of them and a few murmurs between the other bands tonight I’m looking forward to seeing what they actually have to offer. The guitarist and bassist have an awkward feel about them as they set up, and they have to wait around a bit for the drummer to reappear from somewhere but unfortunately the awkward feeling continues throughout the set. Considering they’re probably making the best music of the night they don’t seem to be getting much from it, in fact they seem to be actually glued to the floor. They’re focused so entirely on the layers of sound they’re making that they have forgotten that there is actually a crowd there." (Katie Goates, shefbase.com)

That probably sums us up better than I ever could.

If anyone would like to offer us a gig outside Manchester we would be very happy. If you want a copy of a CDR containing demo versions of the songs above as well as a few other tracks then give us your address and we’ll send you one. If it takes ages then send us messages to nag us because we are slow and useless.

OH MY!

It's CRITICAL MASS this Friday....how ace is that?

Friday 27th June 6pm
Central Library Manchester

[img_assist|nid=20945|title=Manchester Critical Mass|desc=|link=node|align=left|width=100|height=19]

Afterwards we'll have a BBQ and hang out a park, so bring BBQ's, food,
music, drinks etc. (vegan BBQs preferred as then it can be accessible to
everyone!)

A totally ace bike ride around our city to meet other cyclists and ride on
our roads...For a few hours once a month we can show how beautiful our
city can be when bicycles, instead of cars, dominate the roads.

it's such a nice and sociable and fun way to spend a Friday evening on a
bicycle..wow. so ace. and now we're getting bigger and bigger..someone
said they counted at least 150 people on the one last month, how ace is
that?!!. come and be part of our lovely friendly cruise around..to
collectively enjoy the beautiful experience that is riding a bike.

SPECTRE FOLK (Pete Nolan of Magik Markers) + JON COLLIN + NEIL BURRELL

It's extremely appropriate that Magik Markers' drummer Pete Nolan is currently in the country to play with Jandek in London (which is how this gig came about, coincidentally).
Because his solo Folk Spectre record on the Woodist label demonstrates a penetrating knowledge of what makes that great Texan loner so amazing. Lo-Fi in the early 90s Shrimper label sense (yes!), the record contains a clutch of fragile, skeletal songs that inspire a depth of relaxation self-help tape manufacturers could only dream of. Of course, we're not talking 'swimming with dolphins' here. It's the constant hum - of tape hiss, mellow feedback, room boom, whatever - that sits beneath these beautiful songs that gives them their dreamlike quality. The name has been switched around to Spectre Folk but the vibrations are the same.
The Folk Spectre record is something truly special and we anticipate this show to be one of the most enthralling of our 2008 calendar.

Here's what Pete's Magik Markers partner Elisa Ambrogio had to say about it all:

"Here drum-dilweed extraordinaire Pete Nolan takes on new dimensions of low-fidelity radness through the Woodsist imprint. The infamous label in charge of releasing other super-jammers such as Axolotl, Loosers and Blues Control, Woodsist put this mother out in the o 7. So many good songs, I don’t know where to start; it’s like Gene Clark in a manhole with Von LMO in Bushwick. This is another artist criminally unappreciated for his solo work, most probably due to his surly manner. Just ‘cause the man don’t hold doors for people doesn’t mean he doesn’t know how to build castle bridges of strangeness into the void. LISTEN.

The first recording of A Middle Sex as a three piece.
It was recorded live at the Klondyke Club, Levenshulme, Manchester, on that memorable night of Firday 18th April.
The bill was Beach Fuzz, Trinity, A Middle Sex, Temperatures and Slasher Risk. All bands have a myspace page, except for Trinity who can be contacted vire www. myspace. com/lorgenstein.

Napoleon IIIrd will now be playing this Friday April 4th at Cafe Saki instead of Itch.

Therefore the full line up is now

Napoleon IIIrd

"Napoleon IIIrd is possibly the most visionary solo artist on the planet at this moment in time....the most striking aspect of Napoleon IIIrd’s set is the huge propensity of sound one single man can make. Shut your eyes for a second and you’d expect the stage to be filled by some 12-piece orchestra." Drowned in Sound

with Arms At Last, The Search Map and My Amiga.

FRIDAY 4th April at Cafe Saki

Itch

"Itch are quite breathtakingly, pant-twitchingly awesome. Songs stop, start, fall over themselves, kick themselves up the arse, explode into cataclysmic bursts of energybefore suddenly veering off into seemingly irreconcilable tangents that seamlessyly reconcile themselves within the space of a few minutes"

Arms At Last

"Arms At Last sound like what would happen if Dartz! and Hot Club De Paris had an affair." FuckingDance. blogspot. com

The Search Map

’Glitch ridden intelli pop of the highest order - like TV On The Radio playing Modest Mouse at their tenderest’ - Subba-Cultcha

My Amiga

Plenty of harmonies, hand claps and guitar taps make for another band to add to the list of super fun bands being produced in Liverpool at the moment.

TIGER LOUNGE 10TH APRIL 7.
30PM £4

CLARA CLARA(france)

This band has an intense sound using the keyboard (Amielie Lambert) as the melodic digital force, chaotic /psychotic drums and frenetic electric bass (Charles Virot) relying heavily on distortion. Clara Clara plays hypnotic jams with occasional moments of sing along type phrasing. The sound is explosive, erupting with rhythms and very loud distortion. The crowd moved in a trance like motion of ecstasy until the last song, leaving a sweaty musty residue in the garage cocoon, to get some oxygen.

on sunday 30th march THREADS - Bringing the stadium to a shoebox near you, ex-Lee Malvo/Month of Birthdays/Khang take us on a winding Led Zeppelin/Thin Lizzy trip. They were recently left one member down, but don't worry, I have been informed they will still be rocking on this date.
END THE AGONY - Cathartic sludgy emo/hardcore from Brighton. Dan and Jamie used to do the much missed Cat On Form with steve of recent Blood Red Shoes fame. Of course this band are nothing like BRS.
MONGLOLIA - Stoner instrumentals from Dublin. Hard to do non-obvious descriptions so what the hell, like Kabinboy/Goatsnake.
8-11pm at the klondyke club, burnage range (off albert road), levenshulme. there are 2 trains after 11 and the regular 192 bus back to city centre. venue is only a couple of mins walk from the station/bus route. £4 on the door, all ages welcome.
