   Mothers and Daughters Movie's Blurbs
About me:
Mothers & Daughters explores the hilarious, the ridiculous, and the complicated dynamics of mother/daughters relationships. These three mother/daughter pairs offer a diverse glimpse into the needs, the denials, and the inescapable love that these women feel towards each other. Ultimately, it is a celebration of these inexplicable, universal bonds.

Micki, a popular romance novelist with a loyal fan base, is the single widowed mother of Rebecca, a sullen late twenty-something who resents her mother’s constant need for validation. Insatiable Micki also surrounds herself with glamorously pompous colleagues who alternately support her commercial success yet criticize the cultural vapidity of her popular work. With mother and daughter living together, their relationship is often physically too close for comfort. After Micki witnesses Rebecca perform what she interprets as a cruel satire of her own persona, she quietly asks Rebecca to leave her home and ultimately, her life.

Brenda is the archetypal invisible woman who is abruptly discarded following a life of sacrifice. When her husband fails to return for dinner one night, her emotionally estranged daughter Kate appears in his stead, armed with an email declaring his love for another (much younger) woman, as well as his intention never to return. Always daddy’s girl, Kate’s relationship with her father has always taken precedence and her anger misdirects towards Brenda. Left to cope with his abandonment, Kate is hurt by his disappearance, whereas Brenda rediscovers her own voice, buried for decades beneath her suburban complacency. Kate must face the truth and reach some resolution in her distant relationship with her mother.

Celine is an independently successful Metis woman who owns her own house painting business. Difficult enough to compete with perceptions within a man’s industry, her proud Metis identity can be another obstacle. As a young woman, Celine lost her pregnant, teenaged daughter to the streets. She died homeless, her own newborn lost within the system. Celine has since searched for her missing granddaughter in vain.

Adopted and raised by a wealthy family, Cynthia is a young professional and new homeowner. She hires Celine to paint her new house and the two have an immediate connection. When Cynthia discovers that she’s pregnant, Celine provides both maternal guidance and an easy scapegoat for the young woman. Cynthia resists uncovering her heritage and family history but the possibility of raising a child makes her re-evaluate; She must decide if she is ready to find out the truth about her biological mother, but in the meantime, Celine is there to help.
