David Major 6 days/6 States, 7 speeches & 6 workshops later...I rest! In Hagerstown, MD 4 2 nights. WV State Student Council Conference Sunday. Posted at 6:06 PM Oct 9 view more
After 6,000 hours of student leadership involvement in High School, I started my own motivational speaking company in order to help fill a gap that existed between youth speaking for youth. I have been speaking since 2000, performing my HIGH-ENERGY, ENTERTAINING and INFORMATIVE Motivational Speeches from China to the Northwest Territories to Maine to California and all spots in between for over 100,000 STUDENTS. My youth, height and PASSION for student leadership help create a unique style for my student audiences as they are able to RELATE TO ME as one of their own. With me on stage you are GUARANTEED to LAUGH, to THINK and to MOTIVATE YOURSELF!
Speaking professionally since 2000, I have already been able to put together an impressive international resume which includes performances across Canada, the U.S., and China. I have spoken for national and international leadership conferences such as:
NASC - National Association of Student Councils
CSLC - Canadian Student Leadership Conference
SADD - Students Against Destructive Decisions (U.S.)
CYAID - Canadian Youth Against Impaired Driving
HOBY - Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership
IB - International Baccalaureate World Leadership Conference
State and Provincial Conferences such as:
OSLC - Ontario Student Leadership Conference
NPSLC - Newfoundland Provincial Student Leadership Conference
NSSSA - Nova Scotia Secondary Students Association
OSSSA - Ontario Secondary School Students Association
MyLEAD - Michigan Youth Leadership
OSAID - Ontario Students Against Impaired Driving
SADD Alberta - Students Against Drunk Driving Alberta
As well, I have also spoken for numerous regional and local leadership Conferences such as the York Region Presidents Council, New York's County Leadership Conferences and the Central and Eastern Ontario Leadership Seminars.
Besides Conferences, I have also performed in 100's of school assemblies, Sororities, Elementary, High School and University Orientations, Student Residences, High School Student Council Retreats, Volunteer Award Banquets, and much, much more.
Two of my more memorable and unique experiences occured in 2003, when I performed at the Shanghai American School in Shanghai, China and in September 2006 when I spoke 150 km's away from the Arctic Circle in Norman Wells and Tulita, Northwest Territories.
At a diminutive 5 ft. 4, I have found that my speeches can be most effective to audiences with students aged 13-24, as the audience can see me at their level! I am YOUNG, FRESH and a CHANGE OF PACE from the average Motivational Speaker. My style and ability to work with students on their level can be compared to nobody else around.
I am only a successful speaker if I can truly motivate the students of my audience to re-think actions in their lives after I walk off stage, and I pride myself on achieving that goal. It has been my honour on several occasions to be booked by students who had gone from being speech attendees to speech organizers. STUDENTS REMEMBER THE IMPACT I HAD ON THEM AND THEY WANT ME TO IMPACT THE LEADERS AT THEIR CONFERENCES AS WELL. There is no greater compliment or example of success than when this scenario takes place.
When you ask for Motivate Yourself, you ask for PASSION, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE and SPIRIT! It is the perfect recipe for any school or organization in need of a lift!
Please check out my web-site at: www.motivateyourself.net where you can find my speaking programs, video clips, references, speaking history, bio and much, much more.
Thank you for taking the time to check out my site, and I look forward to Motivating Yourself in the future! :)
Below, you have the opportunity to see some video of me from my return engagement at Lakeland High School's Grade 9 Orientation in White Lake, Michigan on August 28, 2006.
The first video clip shows my world record breaking attempt to become the fastest talker in the entire world. Everyone has a very special talent...fast talking just happens to be mine!
As the years have progressed, more and more media have become interested in what I do. On January 11, 2008, I had the opportunity to sit down for a live interview for Rogers Television-York Region which has the capability of reaching 1 million York Region residents.
The third clip is of my original motivational speech regarding never regretting anything you ever do.
My final clip is of a recent television interview that I did with Global Television Ontario on August 7, 2008. Global is a Canadian National Network with coverage reaching any Canadian with a television.
Enjoy the clips!

Don't be shy about being in touch with me! This is why I'm here!!!
Ah, David Major. I was present for the first and third videos that you have posted on your myspace.
Lakeland's freshman orientation. And here I sit now, a junior at that school, watching those clips, and they've inspired me again just as they had three years ago. Fourteen then and seventeen now, I have really changed since that day you spoke to my class of 2010. But the one thing that has remained constant is the fact that I will always be Ryan Moore and never a false person who disguises himself with that name, and you have motivated me to achieve such a mindset.
