Motley Crue Tribute Band now on Facebook.... come check us out and join in the fun!
The Crue's story began in Los Angeles in 1981, when bassist Nikki Sixx, drummer Tommy Lee, guitarist Mick Mars and vocalist Vince Neil recorded their debut LP, Too Fast For Love. The album quickly sold over 20,000 copies and earned the band a national recording contract with Elektra Records.
Only two years after the band's inception, a new star was clearly on the horizon. And The Crue, whose success soon surpassed even the bands they once emulated, were more than ready to give the skinny-tied, overly-synthesized rock charts a swift kick in the ass.
With the 1983 release of Shout at The Devil, the band reached and shocked a new, hungry national audience. Songs such as "Looks That Kill" and "Too Young To Fall In Love" helped to create the first MTV generation and a headline-grabbing tour showcased the band's outrageous live shows. Fire, smoke and volume continuously powered The Crue's concerts and by 1984 photos of Motley Crue plastered magazine covers coast to coast.
Nikki Six was quoted as saying at the time: "It was time to put the pedal down a little harder, put some faster fuel in the tank, turn the amps up and really push the envelop,'' ....Even though 'Shout' took us above ground, we were still the cult powerhouse on the street.''
With one foot on the street and the other on the gas pedal, Motley Crue's fast-paced rise continued. The band's onslaught of arenas, TV and radio continued throughout the mid-80s, with albums such as "Theatre of Pain'' and "Girls, Girls, Girls'' riding high on the charts and tunes such as ....Smokin' In The Boys Room,'' ....Wild Side'' and ....Home Sweet Home'' saturating the MTV airwaves. And with the melodic, hard-rock movement of the '80s in full swing, The Crue were clearly among the leaders of the pack.
So here WE are the UK's one & only Tribute Band to Motley Crue.... check out our 2008 gigs above and come along for what can only be described as one Hell of a night to remember.... in total tribute to THE CRUE......
Meet the band:
Vince Neil aka Den - Front man Den started out singing backing vocals in early 1990s with a pop band called (Blackthorn Avenue). During this time he soon realised that he wanted to be at the front of the band and to sing far more up-beat classics. After two years with Blackthorn and a long rest he set out to form a Classic Rock band.
'Bandicoot', as they were known then played an acoustic set lasting 20 minutes in a small back street pub in the middle of Aston, Birmingham no mics no amps just pure cold everything. The gig went well but it lacked that special something (noise) and so BandYkoot was born. After 6 years fronting BandYkoot Den decided to join Tommy Lee aka PD to put together MOTLEY CREW & has never looked back...
Nikki Sixx aka Jay Jay - I play rock n' roll...the rest of my life is shot to hell. I grew up in Munich, Germany. I started playing guitar at around 13. Any hope of a normal life began to disappear at about the same time. I'm currently on tour with Europe's first & only Ace Frehley Tribute Band - rocket ride and of course MOTLEY CREW
JAY JAY IS ENDORSED BY:
GOD!!!
Tommy Lee aka 'PD' - why this talented drummer has never turned pro is everyone else's loss and 'The Crew's gain AbSoLuTeLy!!! PD began drumming at the age of 2 after following in his Father and Brothers (RIP Les n Roy) footsteps. In 2005 PD decided to move away from rock covers and launch a 'Motley Crue Tribute Band'; so together with former BandYkoot Lead Singer Den the scene was set for what is now the UK's No 1 Tribute to Motley Crue; highly successful and it definately has to be said that Tribute and Covers are miles apart; he'll never forget the backstreet pubs he played and the pals made (incidently the remaining members of BandYkoot regrouped often we're told and renamed themselves '遺贈'or summit like that!) however now it's onwards and definately F**KIN upwards YAAAHHH. PD currently plays a Gresch kit however refuses to part with his original Premier Kit. PD continue's to teach drumming to under privileged kids within the West Midlands and also periodically assists a local Marching Band.
Mick Mars aka Alex - Born out of rock n roll itself, sporting a loud guitar!! He started to learn the guitar before he was born.
He learned to play stairway to heaven when he was just 14, and jimi page didn't write it till he was 28, so he must be good ;-)
He seems to have taken over the tribute circuit playing guitar and bass in a madness tribute as well as guitar with this bunch of misfits.
He believes music is only good when it is loud, well, louder than hell!!!
