I would like to give you a little back ground about Brad and I and how Motorheads became. It will be 7yrs in September that Brad and I along with My mom and step-dad bought the property that we all now call Motorheads. My Step-Dad purchased the property with his cash, but when we got into the building to start cleaning to open we all discovered that we needed a lot more money. We all then mortgaged the property to gain the money we needed to raplace everything and clean up the building. Unfortunately, it took us longer to open than we all had hoped and started off behind. At first we rocked, didn't have a night that wasn't packed and a blast. We caught up on bills and everything was good!! Soon with things slowing down and two headstrong people the tension built. From that point on our family has been torn apart by the tensions of the bar. We eventually, with the change of the DD Law, started getting less and less busy. We tried everything to make this work, but had finally gotten behind so we closed for about a year and a half. We reopened in November of 06. Things really started off slow, then we had this guy walk thru the door wanting to bring his bands thru Jackson and wanted to work with us. This was the beginning of what we had been hoping for. We started with bands like Hydrovibe, Fixer, Egypt Central, Lennox, and also some National acts like Black Stone Cherry, In this Moment, Saliva and Drowning Pool (just to name a few). What a ride this was, meeting the bands, fans and just having that kind of electricity was fabulous. Unfortunately the ride has to come to an end. We have once again fallen behind on things, would like to blame it all on the economy, but I am sure we have some kind of blame also. All of the strain of closing and possibly losing all the money he had put up for this dream my Step Father has had to undergo open heart quad bypass. Please help me to make sure the stress of this is relieved from his shoulders. Pass this on to your friends, coworkers, family. We would love to be able to see what we have started in the Jackson area continue, therefore we are beginning the Motorheads Essay Contest.
