Formed in January 2005 in the small unclaimed bit of land in between Halifax & Huddersfield in West Yorkshire, the Mouldy Joes came together in a cosmic collision of colleagues, invited guests and unsuspecting advert answerers, all with an affinity for music of the Irish persuassion.
Originally 7 strong, now 6 (well 7's ridiculous isn't it?) the Mouldies shacked up in Andy's front room and then the meeting room at Suma in Elland to hone their sound and cobble together a set of songs for their 1st ever gig supporting the local institution that is "Belt of the Celts".
Given that they weren't bottled off stage that night, The Mouldy Joes decided that there was mileage in this band lark and stuck it out
Many gigs followed, in a wide selection of dives and grand arenas around the West Yorkshire region.
Time past, songs were learnt, murdered, discarded and re-learnt, and the name of The Mouldy Joes grew in stature .
We have since continued to baffle and entertain in equal measure across West Yorkshire and in October 2006 we recorded our 1st CD.
It's been a mad ride these past couple of years but we have definitely enjoyed the trip and intend to do so for many a time to come.
We hope you enjoy our site and furthermore we hope to see you at 1 of our gigs, where we can help spread the Mould a little further and for a little longer.
By the way. Forgot to say. I played Jonny Jump Up on Phoenix FM the other day. Was in for a bit of a promo playing songs recorded at Calder. Good stuff. Steve
