Here in The Mountains of Eastern Kentucky, Bluegrass is the only music. When it comes to a band who best fits the description of tight Harmony and meldoy, no other band comes close than mountain melody. Founded in 2000, Wayne and Lola Taylor(who were raised on the bluegrass sound) has worked hard at keeping a tight group of well seasoned musicians and keeping the band booked and on the road. Known for their upbeat Contemporary sound while touching the roots of Flatt and Scruggs, Mountain Melody has their own sound. When you come and spend a eavning with these folks, you dont just listen to music you get a show! If its Thomas 'The Train" Patrick belting out ruby or Nicky Joe and Lola arguing over "The Finger"(Long Story!), you never cese to be entertained by these fine musicians. Lola Taylor began playing at a early age, raised in a music household with her father who played the dobro and her momma who singed. She developed her love of the guitar and at 12 she recorded her first cd. Lola is the support and Rhythem of the band and she really keeps us motivated. She is also one of the finest women singers out there in the buisness today , knows every vocal part and can nail them all easly. Wayne Taylor is the bass player of our group, not only does he keep us in time he keeps us in line. His smooth bass style is the backbone of Mountain Melodys distinct sound and Wayne is by far one of the best bassists out there. Wayne takes care off the booking and the driving. Cindy Taylor is one of the best mandolin players in the music today. Shes got that hard driving chop, but yet that delcate pickin style that defines her apart from anyone else. She started at a young age and had the plesure of being tutored by Mr.Allen Amburgy and he has taught her well. Shes an awsome picker and her mandolin pickin just cant be beat. She is the daughter of Lola and Wayne Taylor. Nicky Joe Johnson is one of the most tasteful guitar players you can work with. Pickin up the guitar from an early age, his father the late Roy Johnson coached Nicky joe in everything from Football to Harmony singing. Nicky joe can also play the mandolin and can do an awsome job on any vocal part you desire. He has played with bands such as Kentucky Red and Coaltown. Nicky Joe also Endorses Mike Long Guitars handcrafted in Nashville Tennesee, Catch him at a show and ask about these awsome bluegrass making machines! Thomas "The Train" Patrick is one of those guys you listen to once and never forget what they sound like. He has been labeld one of the best vocalists in eastren Kentucky and can sing as high as a dog whistle. Rasied up on a Combination of Ralph Stanley and Osborne brothers, Thomas is no slouch when it comes to tenor and lead vocals. He is also becoming a fine dobro player and bass player as well. Some may remember Thomas who used to play with Fastlane and recorded the infamous song "Tina At The Teardrop Inn". When it comes to Taste and tone of a banjo, no one can define it better than David Barnett. David is the banjo player of the group and a fine job he does. He began banjo around 10 when he first heard J.D Crowe(whom is his all time hero) pick Old Home Place on the famous rounder record "0044". Self Taught, David has a style of his own and it had captured the attention of many. David Endorses the Fine Hatfield Banjos crafted by Arthur Hatfield in Glasgow,Ky handmade in the good ole USA. Catch David at a show and ask him about this awsome banjo. Mountain Melody defiantly is one of the finest bands around coming to a venue near you!
