The Story:
Once the land that the Mountain of Terror Haunted Trail resides on was obtained by Mountain View Productions, Inc. the research and investigation into the land begun. The site was once occupied by a thriving mining community in the 1940's until it met it's horrific end caused by a mining collapse that occurred early one morning on October 31, 1948.
During the early morning hours a crew was digging deep in the shaft of the main mine when a horrific explosion took place trapping and burying 37 miners alive. The community exhausted all efforts trying to save the miners but they were unable to clear the debris. Sadly it was decided to terminate all recovery efforts.
The miners, furious by being left alone to die of starvation and dehydration, vowed on their last breath to seek revenge against the community that had abandon them forever.
The mine was closed off by the local Sheriff and entry onto the land was forbidden. Locals have told story's over the years of strange sounds and noises that have come from the old site. Unexplained fires have broken out and just as mysteriously disappeared. To this day there is no explanation for these strange events.
For over 50 years no one has dared to step foot on the property until 1999. Then, a small group of high school students submitted to a deadly dare and broke onto the property to stay over night in one of the mine shafts. They never returned and one search and rescue crew went in and was also never seen again.
One year later a pile of bones were found near one of the exits to the main mine shaft. After forensic investigation was completed it was discovered that the bones belonged to the high school students that disappeared exactly one year earlier.
In 2003 the land was purchased by Mountain View Productions, Inc. After several months on renovating and rebuilding following strict compliance of state, local, and federal laws, two of the mine shafts were re-opened and made accessible for you, the general public, to come and experience the horror that these miners suffered during their last moments on earth.
