....we all fall down - $21
This disc captures the hypnotic flow of two entire mousetrapreplica improvisations. The first, taken from a
performance at Adelaide's Grace Emily Hotel begins with a tastefully cinematic guitar piece which builds into some dark groove with juicy
synthesized bass, into a cinder like guitar figure which gradually builds into a post-apocalyptic avalanche of destructive noise, that somehow
keeps it's beautifully melodic shape all the way through.
The title track of the album starts innocently enough with a single note from McRobb's jangly sounding stratocaster, but slowly and surely
morphs and expands into a hauntingly dark piece with all the power of an orchestra. It is a ferocious yet tasteful improvisation which makes the
guitar sound like a completely different beast from the instrument you know. ...we all fall down - Sample 1 ...we all fall down - Sample 2 ...we all fall down - Sample 3 ...we all fall down - Sample 4

m o u s e t r a p r e p l i c a is the instrumental collaboration of musicians Ryan McRobb, Gareth Thomson and Murray Pigdon.
Originally the solo project of McRobb, he applies forward thinking technology to transform the guitar into an instrument which goes beyond its previous conventions. Combining a MIDI guitar with extensive use of pedals, loop technology and laptop manipulation, he creates sounds which transcend the traditional rock experience, producing music unusually full-bodied for a three piece ensemble.
Together the three highly skilled musicians have found a meeting point between their experimental, electronic tendencies, and their classically trained backgrounds. Accompanied by the spirited drumming of Gareth Thomson, and the powerful bass playing of Murray Pigdon, together they have created a chemistry which is standing out amongst the underground experimental scene in Melbourne and Australia.
As a part of their live shows in the past, the band has also featured live painting by artists Nella Combe and Alice Palermo, enhancing the visual element of the performance, and engaging audiences through multi art-form collaboration.
With the previous lineup, including drummer Nick Martyn, Mousetrapreplica toured the East coast of Australia in March 2008, and played throughout South Australia in March 2007 as a part of the Adelaide Fringe Festival.
Two improvised solo releases entitled “Fragments” and “...We All Fall Down”, and a CD-R entitled “Frozen Moments” are currently for sale.
Mousetrapreplica is in the process of writing for a release due for late 2009.
The band have received airplay in Australia on JJJ National radio, RRR Melbourne, PBS Melbourne, 3CR Melbourne, FBi Sydney, CCR Sydney, Sideways through Sound in Sydney, plus many international radio stations.
