Movies (primarily arthouse and foreign), Baseball (grew up with the St. Louis Cardinals and adopted the hometown Arizona Diamondbacks), Travel, Music (especially blues), Chess. I publish at media review site Toxic Universe or on my own movie review site Old School Reviews. Spirituality has long been an interest. I've been a Baha'i since 1969.
Music
Eclectic taste, but especially love the blues (Chicago style) and Dylan.
Movies
I love the movies, and a recent highlight was being able to attend the 2005 Cannes Film Festival for a number of Press screenings. A listing of owned DVDs is at DVD Aficionado; I am eclectic in taste. I do prefer arthouse, indie, and foreign films because they offer a much better chance at originality. I've written a number of movie reviews at Toxic Universe and Old School Reviews and am a member of the Online Film Critics Society.
Television
About the only things I watch on TV are sports and movies, but I do have fond memories of a few older shows and have DVD box sets of the original Star Trek series, The Twilight Zone series, and Rocky & Bullwinkle.
Books
Concentrated on American Literature during undergrad years. Favorite writer: Henry David Thoreau. Currently am reading more non-fiction titles and have written a number of reviews at Toxic Universe.

I currently write curriculum materials professionally for a computer company in the Phoenix area, but review media for enjoyment. Writing technical materials pays the bills, but I would rather be hanging around the Camelview 5, going to movie festivals, and writing critiques of the latest non-mainstream films. The reviews I do write are featured at Old School Reviews or Toxic Universe, and I am a member of the Online Film Critics Society that is featured on Rotten Tomatoes.
I graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in English before teaching at an inner-city high school in Detroit for a year. I then did graduate work at Michigan State University to teach special education for the emotionally disturbed in Georgia for 5 years before moving on to teach English at Tuba City High School on the Navajo Reservation for over 20 years.

Punctuality has never been my strong suit - a couple weeks ago, I finally saw 2004 Best Picture winner Million Dollar Baby.
Was blindsided and awed by what I knew going in was some kind of mystery-killer-secret plot twist. Then headed to Culturecartel.com to check out your review.
I know I personally don't ever get emails or comments about my movie reviews on that site, so I wanted to let you know that four years down the road a fan and colleague enjoyed your take on the Eastwood masterpiece in question. So thanks for taking the time to write it.
Thanks for the add. It was good meeting you. Hope to read some of your reviems, send me a link of where I can find them. Also thanks for lunch, its was a good hole in the wall spot, mos def will go back. Yaiva
I am trying to find some kind of copy of De Palma's "Redacted," which I'm probably going to laugh at, but hey -- you never know. I think it's funny that a film called 'Redacted,' actually got redacted.
How come people don't freak out about American soldiers being shown as brutal in a Kubrick or Stone film, but De Palma does generally the same thing and gets crucified. Perhaps he should be crucified if it's as poorly done as I hear it is, though.
Hello my brother...just thought I would say "hello" and ask when are you coming here? Somehow I'm thinking it is this month...or am I having a memory glitch?
Baseball is back! Let's hope my tigers don't clash with your pretty-boy Cards again. Hahaha. It's painful to watch Detroit lose so many games in extra innings. It's disgusting.
Hey Nesbian, Guess what!!? I'm a daddy! I had a boy on the 15th. His name is Bode Red Dugi. Just wanted to let you know. Check out my slide show and see my Superman baby. Later
Happy holidays to you, John. Looking forward to seeing your year end Top 10 film list (I'm starting to put one together myself, but it looks like half of it will be documentaries).
Ya'at'eeh Grandmaster Nesbit, how are you doing? I'm just checking out your reviews and such, looks like you have a following of myspacers. Always glad to hear your opinions on things, keep on keeping on. peace RBtchs93
