關於我: “Movie Queens” is the program that considers all things film related from a queer perspective. Each episode finds Ricky and David our two intrepid hosts deeply immersed in the gay man’s favorite sport – movies. Ensconced in their movie stuffed media room, David and Ricky watch and talk about film from the fairyman’s point of view. They cast their queer eyes (and opinions) over the latest feature film releases, discuss and recommend favorite DVDs (old and new), interview stars as diverse as darling Debbie Reynolds to queer icon Bruce Vilanch, check in with their hapless correspondent live from the Pink Carpet, engage in witty banter about topics near and dear to movie queerists (plastic surgery, chick flicks, homoerotic superhunks, camp classics, classic classics), and opine rapturously when offering tributes to their favorite stars – all while rarely getting off the couch.
Each show is broken into four distinct segments:
MQs Movie Views (film reviews)
MQs Guest Book (celebrity interview)
Cinemix (a queer movie smorgasboard)
Swag Bag (R&D's current DVD, CD & movie book picks)
Ricky is the sunny populist, the optimist ready to give Hollywood’s latest blockbuster the benefit of the doubt while David is the erudite homo’s poster man – giddy at the thought of films labeled artsy, obscure and intractable but still accessible enough to embrace screen legends like Susan Hayward and Marilyn Monroe. Every David and Ricky mood swing wish is closely monitored by their hunky manservant Arlando while fellow film fanatics Joan Crawford #77, Carol Drive Ann, Sister Cinematica, the Grim Viewer, Karin the Movie Librar’n, and others are often drawn into the chat. The result is a program that’s hilarious, informative, and surprising, given its queer perspective and tagline (“Cinema Very Gay”), not just for GLBT audiences.
