“MOVING GELATINE PLATES” se révéla en 1970, au Festival du Bourget et fut, avec Magma, Total Issue, Triangle, l’un des pionniers d’un certain rock français, dit progressif.
Leurs passages sur scène très remarqués (Festival du Bourget avec Pink Floyd, de Biot avec Frank Zappa, Olympia avec East of Eden…) furent concrétisés par deux albums chez CBS, aujourd’hui pièces de collection très recherchées. Puis le groupe s’est dissout quelques années plus tard. En 1980, Didier THIBAULT, le bassiste de MGP, l’a reformé sous le nom de “MOVING”, et un nouvel album a vu le jour.
Ces 3 albums ont été réédités en CD, chez Muséa, label qui ressort en CD de nombreux groupes de cette période très riche musicalement que furent les années 70.
Aujourd’hui, ce groupe mythique est de retour, à l’initiative de Didier THIBAULT, dans une formule plus étoffée, composée de 7 musiciens (guitare, basse, batterie, clavier, sax-flûte, violon, violoncelle), et un nouveau CD vient de sortir: “REMOVING”.
Dans ces nouvelles compositions, on retrouve le style musical si particulier du groupe d’origine: brisures de rythme, contrastes sonores. Mélange d’influences rock, jazz, classique où se côtoient instruments électriques et acoustiques, “MOVING GELATINE PLATES” confirme son attachement au rock progressif. Certains qualifient leur musique de “Rock de Chambre” !
