The Onion
"Listening to Moxie Motive's new self titled EP - which gets released at this show - it's easy to think of the group as an amalgam of Chicago indie-rock sounds. There's raucous, Ponys-esque garage rock ("Flush Of Hearts"), a Smashing Pumpkins-type ballad ("Gone By Now"), and chiming guitar-rock that recalls Eleventh Day Dream and Silkworm ("Tourist"). Thankfully though, Moxie Motive doesn't sound like a glorified cover band. This EP - the 2-year old group's first - shows the band finding itself, but bodes well for things to come."
Timeout Chicago
"Moxie Motive can range from glisteny pop to restrained, violin-tinged acoustic moments, but it's frontman Matt Duhaime's rough-hewn vocals that really give the music its character."

"a touch of Radiohead, Television dressing, sturdy drums, and a violin floating on top."
In Concert By Craig, weblog
"I was just starting to wonder if the Chicago band Moxie Motive had any (moxie that is)...when about 2 minutes into their song "Flush Of Hearts" I had my answer when a blast of Pixie-esque guitar noise erupted."
Grog Mutant, thechickenspeaks.com
"They pack a bit of the Mudhoney sound mixed with Columbus, OH pioneers Pretty Mighty Mighty to form a sound all their own, yet at once familiar. Moxie Motive have a hard driving, stripped down sound that stays fresh with the addition of a violin and on one track a cello. My favorite tracks are "Gone By Now" and the should-become-classic "Tourist.""
